Not Updated For Current Season
The masteries shown here are not yet updated for the current season, the guide author needs to set up the new masteries. As such, they will be different than the masteries you see in-game.
Please leave comments! good or bad! and like or dislike my build!
I have played Amumu for a while now and finally decided to put my build up here. It is different then most builds you will see but don't Bash on it before you try it!
Flash: Very useful spell for Amumu, you can either flash into a group of enemies to Ult them, or you can use it as an escape mechanism!
Ghost: Another catch or escape method, I like using both flash and exhaust seeing as Amumu doesn't really have any escape methods at all.
Clarity: This spell is good if you see yourself running out of mana a lot, Amumu is very mana heavy so if you're new to playing him this might work for you.
Skills and Uses
Cursed Tough: Your passive, reduces enemies magic resist when you hit them, very effective because everything you do is magic damage.
Bandage Toss: Amumu's Stun and skill shot. You can use this ability to initiate or even to try to catch that straggler who thinks he got away. This can be used through trees and walls to pull yourself through them if you have enemies on the other side.
Despair Constant % Base damage AOE. Does a % of their max health everyone second, Hit this before you run into any fight!
Tantrum Your "spam" move when you are in a team fight. Don't try to spam this on creeps at low levels though, it will make you run out of mana very quickly!
Curse of the Sad Mummy Amumu's Ultimate! This is hands down one of the best moves in the game if used correctly! You can easily disable a whole enemy team and with your AP that you will have it will actually do good damage to them also!
I always start with a Sapphire Crystaland 2 Health Potions. Amumu is very Mana dependent so the Sapphire Crystal helps you lane longer! Once you have about 925 Gold you want to go back and grab a Catalyst the Protector. This will allow you to stay in your lane a lot easier without having to back as much.
When you then have enough Money you want to return back and grab a Rod of Agesand get that timer to start going. The next item you want is going to be boots! I normally go for the Sorcerer's Shoesfor the extra Magic Pen.
The Next items you want to go get are Rylai's Crystal Scepterfor the AP, Health and the Slow when you use your skills, And Randuin's Omen, Good Armor, Health and a passive and Active Slow!
Now if you're game has gone on this long you can go ahead and grab the classic Sunfire Cape, Armor, Health, and more constant AOE damage around you.
And for your 6th item you can go one of 2 ways really. If you find you are dying alot you can get Guardian's Angel, (you can get this before sunfire cape if you desire). Or you can grab the Abyssal Scepterif you're having trouble with magic damage champions.
In the Game
Early game is all about being defensive with Amumu. You are very mana dependent so you don't want to be going up to every creep and trying to use tantrum. Use Tantrum to try to last hit multiple creeps and harass a little on melee champions if you want, but you're not going to do much damage yet. Once you get enough creeps get your catalyst and then you will be able to stay in your lane longer! Try to coordinate with your teammate for a good jump, Hopefully you have a decent carry or someone else with a stun in your lane and you can get an easy early game kill!
You and your teammate should be well off now in fights with your ult, if someone is being a little aggressive that's your chance easily. If someone tries to "tower dive" you ever, you have 2 stuns lined up for them and it should be a quick kill for you. You should have some AP now and be a little hard to kill and be able to put out quite a bit of damage, Try to make sure you have Golem as often as you can. Unlimited Despair is pro!
Team Fights! this is where you are the most effective! You should have quite a bit of hp now and a good amount of AP. Run in with your team, or right behind your tank if you have one and right as your carries get there freeze their whole team in place, If you have a good AOE team most of them will die pretty easily. If any try to get away just chase and Bandage Toss them.
Thanks to all who took the time to read through my guide! Please if you have any questions about the build post them!
