I'd get Doran's Ring first any day. Infinite mana + 2 Health Potions are just t00 g00d. I don't know why you shoot for a codex first.. you should always aim for Needlessly Large Rod if possible.

Getting Deathfire Grasp before Rabadon's Deathcap works because you get more all-in burst when you use the active but Rabadon's is better if: You hit 2 people or more OR Your DFG active isn't up OR you're harassing the enemy. That's why I'd rather get Rabadon's first almost every game.

Finally, Lich Bane is pretty weak on AP Trist.. She has huge *** cooldowns so she can't make any use of it except ONCE in her burst combo.. If you want to stay back and do damage while your spells are on cooldown, Nashor's Tooth is by far superior. It also gives CDR and makes your Rapid Fire and passive very useful.
