Introduction
I play Sona as an "Assist Queen." To me, all this means is i dont shoot for kills. I support the champion im with, Normaly and Preferably Bottom lane, and make sure they get kills and stay safe. Im not entirely sure how this developed, but I really do enjoy supporting my team in this way.
Now, as many of you find obnoxious, im sure: My Runes are Very focused, and are lack-luster. Id agree with you. Simply put, Having Sona have a strong AP for healing sake and Support Damage is why her runes are nothing but AP slots.
When playing Sona in the way that I do, She shouldn't have an issue escaping when she needs to. otherwise, you should Rely on your "supported" Champion. As I see, this build is not ment for anything short of a Pre-made team. It works fine in mature P.U.Gs but you need a little trust with this build.
Sona's Ap with these Runes alone breaks 70, which helps in the long run.

Clarity and Heal.
When your supporting in the fashion that iv come to, I like staying in Lane longer. Again, Many of you Probably hate these two things togather in PvP. this is not a crucial part of the build, so feel free to ignore these.
Clerity allows your Supported Champion (Praying its mana based) to last longer and Heal for panic situations. most of the time, they may have their own heal, but a little extra goes a long way, regardless of level. Clerity on the otherhand does lose its merit around lv 9. So keep in mind, its early to mid handy, then kinda wastes space. so, do as you will.
