Introduction

Hey everyone. This is a build i somewhat tried and i think is just pretty balanced. To be frank, i'm not much into explaining everything but i'll still brieftly explain the ABC of this build.

You might wanna go and see the comments below. There has been a lot of explaining done to why i think Tiamat is beter than Manamune.

Lore

The work of gravediggers is essential amongst the living, but invaluable in the Shadow Isles. There are many shades of death there, and each is embraced rather than feared or reviled. One can only ascend from one state to the next with the magical aid of a skilled professional. At the end of the first Rune War, Yorick Mori made his living as a gravedigger. His family owned and maintained the Final Rest Memorial, one of the oldest cemeteries in Valoran. The shovel he employed for his work had been passed down for generations. Each gravedigger taught his son that this shovel was imbued with the spirit of every forefather, and that those spirits would protect him during the long lonely nights amongst the tombstones. To his eternal regret, Yorick died without an heir, bringing the proud Mori line to a close. His body was interred with his shovel in the family mausoleum, and the Final Rest Memorial soon fell to ruin. Death, however, was not the end Yorick had expected.

Yorick emerged on the haunted shores of the Shadow Isles - not quite dead, definitely not alive - still clutching his beloved shovel. He soon learned that with it he could act as a ferryman for the Isles' undead denizens, helping them climb death's many-tiered ladder. This proved a curse, as a gravedigger must ''bury his quota'' before he too can ascend, or so the legend goes. No one knows what ''his quota'' is. Yorick dug tirelessly, waiting in vain for the day when he would be freed of his burden. As decades turned to centuries, the shame of his failures came to a head. He returned to Valoran to find his corpse, convinced that salvation might be buried with it. When he arrived, no trace remained of either the mausoleum or the memorial. Hope nearly lost, he discovered the League of Legends, and there saw an opportunity to immortalize the family name he allowed to be forgotten ages ago.

''Die first, then we'll talk.''

Pros / Cons

Pros

Awesome sustain in lane
Awesome harrassement
Good damage especially in AOE
Not squishie

Cons

This build is meant to be balanced
so you aren't the best in anything.

Runes

The AD and armor pen runes are pretty obvious choice. AD marks because most of yorick attacks need it and it boost your ghouls damage.
The armor pen quints could also be AD but i am not that hardcore of a player and don't have the IP yet.
The reason i use that many mana regen runes is simply to be able to stay in lane for like forever. Yorick has a built in hp regen that hurts in range and is annoying as F*** why not build around it so you poke anything brave enough to get close?

Masteries

The offense masteries i take are pretty obvious choices to improve Yorick's damage.
The defensive masteries are simply to ease the early laning phase.
The utility masteries are to increase your spamming ability and some light movement speed increase is always nice to have.

Items

Now for the items:

Tiamat: Yorick is a pusher from the start. Add to that AOE on all his basic attack and and he's just storming through creeps. Tiamat also has nice starting items to keep you healthy on your first laning phase. Almost forgot to say it gives 50 AD. Note that you can take Boots of speed before finishing it if you have a hard time in lane.

Mercury's threads: Tenacity and magic res always nice to have right?

Spirit visage: Health, magic res, cooldown reduction and increases your healing for 1550g. Totally worth the buy in my opinion

Frozen mallet: This item is awesome on Yorick. It gives you some damage, a big chunk of health and a good slow once in range which is easy since you have a range slow with your W and a movement speed buff if you get to hit with your Q.

Atma's impaler: Gives armor so you reach at least the 50% damage reduction. Crit sure is always nice to have on a melee. The passive is also quite effective on this build since once the build is complete Yorick has over 3000 health meaning a nice plus to his damage. I'm not sure if it really stacks but since tiamat's aoe is physical i do wonder if it increase it's damage.

Zeke's herald: This item is in to increase Yorick's CDR even more, give health so atma's even more effective, and help in team fight with lifesteal and attack speed aura.

All in all this item set up is meant to give Yorick nice damage, sustain and thougness. Making him tanky enough to not die in 1 burst and strong enough to do his job, kill stuff.
And all of that can be achieved with under 13k gold meaning you will be able to complete this build in the vast majority of your games.

As a reminder if the game ever last really long and you get to have money to spare since the build aint too expensive you can always sell the items you have for 70% of it's value and somewhat adjust to what you encounter.

Skill Sequence

I start with omen of famine then go to omen of pestilance to then take omen of war. The reason i do so is to be able to unleash hell asap if anyone ever comes in range.
I take an other point in omen of famine and max it last so that the heal is good without emptying my mana since i wanna use it to poke and lower my ennemies health ultimately scaring then away from the creep kills.
I then proceed on leveling my slow, which doesn't cost anything more as it levels so it is also nice to spam, and my Q so i get some more burst damage if anyone get in melee.
Like every champ, you take your ult everytime you can.

Summary

With this build i usually go solo top since i have a lot of sustain but being with a range or a burst damage will most likely give awesome result since you'll be poking at their health all the time scaring/killing them. I don't consider myself good. I haven't even tryed ranked play but for now this set up has made Yorick my favorite champion, and ain't the goal in a game to have fun?
