Passive: Veigar generates a stack of Phenomenal Evil for each enemy champion hit by his abilities, and 5 stacks whenever he scores an enemy champion takedown. Phenomenal Evil: For each stack, Veigar gains 1 ability power. |

ACTIVE: Veigar blasts a dark bolt in the target direction that deals magic damage to the first two enemies hit. If this kills an enemy, it generates 1 stack of Phenomenal Evil Phenomenal Evil, tripled against large minions and monsters. |

Active: Veigar casts down a mass of dark matter that strikes the target location after a 1.221 seconds delay, dealing magic damage to enemies hit. Dark Matter's Cooldown cooldown is reduced based on stacks of Phenomenal Evil. |

Active: Veigar forms a cage at the target location that erects after a 0.5 second delay, remaining there for 3 seconds. Enemies that collide with the edges of the cage are knocked down and stunned for a duration. Enemies can be affected by Event Horizon's effects only once per cast. |

Active: Veigar sends a primordial burst at the target enemy champion that deals magic damage, increased by 0% − 100% (based on target's missing health). If the target becomes untargetable, dies, or is too far away or no longer in sight during the cast time, this ability will cancel but does not go on cooldown nor pay its cost (if applicable). |

Teleport
|
+ Increases your roam potential + Greater map control + Easier to join objectives + Good for offense or defense |
Teleport is an extremely versatile summoner spell to take with Veigar in the mid lane. As a much better option over Ignite, teleport can be used to increase your roam potential and secure objectives/win teamfights with the increased map control this spell gives you. As an avid Veigar main, I highly recommend taking this spell with the standard Flash because I promise you will not regret it. |
Ignite
|
- Completely overkill - Less roam potential - Not ideal for teamfights (but better for duels) |
It's a common mistake for new Veigar mains to take Ignite as part of their kit while they try to learn the champ. Typically, Ignite is a standard spell to take for the kill pressure it provides and the sustained damage it deals when trying to secure a kill. It's fair to say that Ignite can be used to help Veigar's lackluster dueling potentional in the early game however, this spell quickly falls off and becomes overkill as Veigar becomes a one-shot killing machine with enough stacks and AP items. |

A personal favorite of mine, Luden's is still one of the strongest mythic choices for Veigar and provides a lot of early magic pen that is especially effective against squishy team comps. The extra movement speed and burst is also extremely important and pairs very well with Veigar's kit. This item works very well against almost any comp and I highly recommend giving it a try! | An alternative to Luden's Tempest, Everfrost is still a very strong item on Veigar that can still dominate the mid lane in the right hands. Everfrost yields a greater flat amount of ability power than Luden's Tempest and even has a unique active ability that stuns/slows enemy in a short cone-shaped range. In overall AP stats, this item is much stronger Luden's Tempest on paper but in return does not grant any amount of early magic penetration. The Active Ability is also a nice addition that compliments your Event Horizon nicely. |

As a mid laner Veigar has a weak early game with very little kill pressure during the laning phase. It's important not to engage in too many trades with the enemy laner until you can establish a sustainable amount of mana after purchasing Lost Chapter on your first back. Managing not to burn too much mana during the laning phase is cruical as Veigar because he relys on being able to farm stacks from minions with his Baleful Strike. The chances of you securing a kill anyways pre level 6 is slim to none anyways so taking extended trades are probably not going to be worth it for you regardless. I highly recommend trying to focus on your CS if you want to improve your early game as Veigar and once you've gotten comfortable with farming stacks, you can poke the enemy mid laner with your Q until your jungler can secure a gank for your lane. With enough patience and hopefully a decent amount of stacks as well, it should be smooth sailing for you into the mid game as team fights and objectives start to open up. |
As you begin to transition into the mid game, you'll start to focus more on taking objectives and roaming to other lanes to snowball the game faster when you get ahead. It's important as the mid lane to maintain map control over objectives or ganks; and even counter gank when possible to prevent the enemy jungler from sneaking cheeky kills on your sidelane. Sometimes when I'm really ahead as Veigar I like to think of myself like a second jungler, acting as the win condition for my team's other lanes and making sure I take every opportunity to put myself more ahead than I already am. It's also important to remember farming stacks even in the mid-to-late game so don't forget to clear or shove waves as they come crashing into your tower. It's easy to forget about your own lane when you're too busy trying to roam everywhere else on the map. Make smart plays. |
