Items Guide / Reasoning

We already figure you know what the items do by them self. So we will spare you the extra reading and get straight to the point of why we chose them.
__________________________________________________________________________________________

Rod of Ages

I get this weapon because it gives you mana, health, and AP. All are essential to Amumu. It does take a while to farm but this should be your first item.

Mercury Treads

These boots are my personal favorite on any tank due to the CC reduction and the magic resist. However, boots should be bought depending on the other team. So feel free to change these boots where ever it may apply.

Sunfire Cape

This item is very hot and dangerous so please proceed with caution when using it. The sunfire cape is pretty much seen on every tank. The reason this item is wonderful on Amumu is because it gives good armor, health, and Damage over time, plus his skills go along great with it. First his Bandage Toss stuns them and your sunfire is doing damage already, and when you use Despair and your Ult with your sunfire and throw your hissy fit (Tantrum) your are guaranteed to do some amazing damage. And I mean who doesn't want to be a walking fireball?

Force of Nature

I grab this item ONLY when there is a heavy magic damage enemy team. With this one item and its amazing magic resist will make you one of the best magic damage tanks in the game and will guarantee more survivability.

Abyssal Scepter

This item works on Amumu and the rest of ur team because you get, Magic Resistance, AP, and enemy MR reduction. This allows you and your teammates to do more damage.

Thornmail

This item is special, I only get this when there is a heavy damage DPS that needs to die. With this and your sunfires you are the ultimate DPS killing machine. For example I went 1/2 health against a full health olaf and walked away the victor! How you may ask? Sunfire+Thornmail+Despair+Tantrum= Dead Olaf, because of Olafs passive the faster he attacks the more damage he dealt himself. Which is great because the faster the DPS attacks you the faster they die.

Aegis of Legion

Ok time to get the tiny shield for the tiny child. This item is good for team support as well as a little bit of everything you need to make yourself a little better at tanking.

These are my items, please leave comments on any thoughts you may have on my items and my reasons. :D

__________________________________________________________________________________________

Runes / Reasoning

I'll make this as simple as possible. I get health runes because Amumu is a tank and needs the health when he goes into the fight. I also use AP seals because this adds more damage to all your spells.

__________________________________________________________________________________________

Start Game

Okidokie! Time to get hot!

Starting items:

Boots of Speed

UNIQUE Passive: Enhanced Movement 1.

Health Potion x2

Click: Heals 200 Health over 20 seconds

Mana Potion

Click: Restores 100 Health over 20 seconds.

These are my starting items. Depending on whether your playing 3s or 5s you can gank, but this is totally up to you. At spawn the first spell you want to grab is Bandage Toss because everyone wants a stun at level one (Well I know I do) and it's a great way to get first blood. When your level 2 and 3 you should be spamming your Tantrum. But because of this you need mana which is where the mana potion comes in. And since you are probably gonna run into someone who will harass you early game the health potions are to lane longer. When the other team has heavy magic damage you should focus on build a force or guardian, but only after your Mercury Treads and Rod of Ages.

After 15 mintues you will, hopefully, have your Regular Boots/ Mercury Treads and your Rod of Ages and if you're fed (and I mean really fat) a Chainmail/Giants Belt (which ever is fine) or maybe a SUNFIRE!!! With these items you should have quite a high survivability rate, you're going to use this survivability rate to initiate and hopefully you get focused and spam tantrum.

__________________________________________________________________________________________

Mid to End Game

Around mid game you should have 4-5 items unless you were starved in the beginning. Your items should be RoA, Merc Treads, and Sunfre/Thonrmail/Magic Resistance (Guardian or FoN, or both). Your items should depend on who you are playing. You should be running around as a team or running to your teammates, and starting fights that you can hopefully win. If the other team is fed you're team should tower hug and gear up.

End Game

To be honest you barely ever get to this part of the game. It usually ends mid game cause one person got to geared or someone surrenders. But by now you should be a walking fireball of death with cool flaming spikes (Thornmail/Force) or wings (Guardian Angel). You should be something of a godly tank that starts fights and walks away with a lot of health if anything. Well tips for end game: Stay together, always be the fight starter (bandage toss and ult or Flash and ult and use your stun to keep players there even longer), and never be by yourself or let anyone else be by themselves.

Random thoughts/ Overall player guide

Since I talk about starting fights I should tell you his skill combo and how to use him in a fight. So first of all you turn on Despair then bandage toss/flash and pop your ult on as many enemies as possible then focus the squishiest person (make sure to hit them with your face because it is further MR reduction due to your passive). After this you should be close to the enemy with the most health so your Despair does the best damage (or next to everyone) . And when ever someone on your team is being focused or an enemy is running bandage toss them. For enemies running away you probably want to pop ghost and run side to side, this works because your Despair, Tantrum (Make sure you are a little in front of them, and sunfire will kill the enemy while just walking next to him. One more thought I have is towers. Later in the game don't be afraid to tower dive. You should be buff enough that the tower cant hurt you at all, and when the enemy tower dives you you should first Bandage Toss them in the towers range (make sure the tower is targeting them) if this first doesn't work then pop your ult which should guarantee you the kill, unless they are super buff.

Invisible Enemies

Dealing with invisible enemies is easy. You + Oracle= Dead enemies who don't know what happened.
__________________________________________________________________________________________

Something lots of players seam to do is to stick straight to their builds. Well doing this can work, but order of completion will make a big difference. Remember every game is unique, and you the player must adjust. If your being over tanked, you may have to buy some Armour for early game and sell it later. Or something as simple as buying your 4th items 2nd and your 2nd item last. Just ***es, and make a choice and hope for the best out come.

HAPPY GAMING!

RATING AND POSTING NOTE

If your choosing to down rate this build and guide please please please take the time to explain it. We take A-LOT of time building these for the community. It is senseless and utterly rude to spam down rate. You do not like it when people do it to you, so why would anyone who takes this much time to build a guide...FOR YOU. Thanks!
