Introduction

What is up guys its Jgomez96 here and here i will show you how i build my Cho'gath, this is my second guide so again write down below in the comments on what you think of my build if you want to criticize it that's fine.

Personally i love Cho'gath becasue becasue:
    He's a tank
    Burst mage
    Funny jokes "NOM NOM NOM"

By the way I don't really need to type down all of Cho'gath's abilities just go to the skill sequence at the top of the page and just hover on top of the picture they will tell you

READ THIS: I know its a pain to read all this writing believe me because Im one of those people that if there is to much words and less pictures i wouldn't want to read it but IM SORRY I DO NOT KNOW HOW TO ADD PICTURES IN MY GUIDE AFTER ALL THIS IS MY SECOND.

Pros and Cons- On Cho'gath

Pros
    Great early game farmer
    Great harrasment
One of the few ap,tank that can jungle
Has a Warmog's Armor like ability (Feast)
A tank that can burst down enemies
Cons
Ultimate has a very short range (touching range)
Slow at chasing/running away (that's why i have "mobility boots" to cancel this)
    Normally focused down

No Warmogs?!

Why go all tank with Warmog's Armor ?
Very simple this is because Cho'gath has that size pressure that enemies would want to avoid, and plus if you have the full stacks of his ultimate who would want to attack that big giant without help, they would most likely to avoid you and just try not to push your luck on an enemy you want to kill.

Also another reason is that you already have an abilty that acts like warmog anyway (Feast) so you don't need to have big health and armor items since he can cover that for you.

The powers of his abilities with his Crowd Control, Bursts damage , and Health makes Cho'gath an ideal champion for defense and offense which is what most people want

Runes

For my runes ( Ap Magic Resist) i have flat magic penetration marks, 4 armor seals , 5 magic resist seals, flat ability power per level glyphs, and 3 flat ability power quintessence. This rune will give out both armor and magaic resist but magic resist tends to be a little higher for Ap carries/Burst mage. i did this build because Cho'gath is a burst mage tank and so i have to follow his playstyle. Why not put more health runes/armor rather than Ap damage? because cho'gath excels better with more burst than just being a powerhouse tank, of course being a power house tank is good but no its not good for cho'gath

For my other runes (Ap Armor) i have i have flat magic penetration marks, 5 armor seals , 4 magic resist seals, flat ability power per level glyphs, and 3 flat ability power quintessence. This rune will give out both armor and magaic resist but Armor tends to be a little higher for AD carries/DPS carries i did this because Cho'gath is a burst mage tank and so i have to follow his playstyle. Why not put more health runes/armor rather than Ap damage? because cho'gath excels better with more burst than just being a powerhouse tank, of course being a power house tank is good but no its not good for cho'gath

As you wouldve notice i basicly have the same runes and explanation to both runes this is because Cho'gath doesnt need to much armor as it says above and so does health, ap carries or ad carries wont give you too much of a hard time because like i said you have size pressure, and that champion will only initiate if he knows your too weak so what you do is not to cause too much aggro and just be a support tank with your CC. Of course you can switch to the offensive if you have someone with you.

Items

For items i start of with Dorans ring this is becasue it gives you the early ap, health, and mana regen. Again just like before when you get your second item decide if you are doing well in your lane or not if you are then start getting boots and rush boots of mobility then get another dorans ring. If you are not doing so well i suggest for you to get another Dorans rings to help you with farming and hopefully star harrassing with your Q. I take abyssal septer next because some of Cho'gaths ability is short range especially Feast what i like about this item is its passive and going in for the kill with Feast will give you TONS OF DAMAGE. (Phreak's normal quote) Why? Abbysal scepters passive is that if you get close to an enemy their magic resist will go down the good thing about that is that Feast range is touching range so you need to be litterally next to the enemy for it to work.(Remember that Feast is true damage and will ignore magic resists which makes it better) After i get Rabadons Deathcap just simply for magic damage, if you are using Ap Armor then i suggest you buy thornmail first then get rabadon for safety, but if your using AP Magic resistant then get Force of nature after rabadon because you gonna want to have armor at late games especially for mages. Those are the most important items for the moment after it is up to you, the other items are just there for supporting Cho'gath with more Ap damage. Lastly get Guardian angel i have this because Feast lets you stack up 6 times but if you die you lose half of those stacks it is very annoying losing those stacks, because you become smaller and smaller leaving you with no size pressure!! so get guardian just in case for stalling or get away.

Summoner Spells

For my summoner spell.
Ap Magic resists:
I have Ignite and Flash this is because ignite is an early game killer and does not need for explanation because all it does is depletes health overtime. I picked Flash because when you are fighting mages some of them has combos(Veigar, Ahri, Malzahar etc.) what you want to do is get out of their range before they can cast it onto you which will be devastating it will destroy your health in a Flash,( Get that joke LOL!!) Sorry about that bad joke, back to Flash if you use flash you can get out of range or escape them from near death.

Ap Armor:
I have Ignite and Exhaust as i said earlier above I have this because ignite is an early game killer and does not need for explanation because all it does is depletes health overtime. For Exhaust its a different story because some Ad carries are extremely fast or fast enough to catch you since you Cho'gath your relatively slow Exhaust slows them down greatly but also reduces their attack damage for a short time. You have to time this correctly because using it too early can cause you life using it too late you may already be dead before the exhaust takes action. TIP: Master yi can ignore Exhaust because of his passive that he cant get slowed down whilst in hes ulti form but it does lower his damage, problem is if that Yi has tremendous attack speed then reducing attack damage is useless because he can jsut autoattack with ciritical strikes.

Ap Magic Resistant?

Ap Magic Resistant what i meant by this is that if your playing Cho'gath one game and you notice most of your enemies are magic dealers or champions that suits magic items other than attack damage items. This build for Magic Resistant is very IMPORTANT for burst mages like: Veigar, Malzahar, Ahri, Fizz, Annie, Morganna (sometimes)it is very essential that you block up their damage so you either feed less or taking damage (which should do more often because your a tank).

Pros and Cons Magic Resistance

Pro's
You can survive and tank the burst magic damage
It will be a big problem to burst mages
Will help your team if they don't have magic resists

Con's
It blocks more magic damage than AD (if the enemy have a mixed team then even out the magic resists and armor for greater play)
Ap carrys will focus you down more will lead to team fight but Cho'gath will most likely be dead or half health once the team arrives which is bad.

Ap Armor?

Ap Armor WHAT i meant for this is that this build focus more in armor rather than magic resists, why? because unlike Mages there are more champions that uses AD damage and so making a Cho'gath armor build would really hep you guys to win the game. Champs like: Xin Zhao, Varus, Jax, Fiora, Master yi and all AD CARRIES you need to watch out for because of their Crazy damage late game. Just like i have said before your a semi-Tank you can take SOME of the Damage since Cho'gath relies on his abilities to mak him stronger
Back to Top

Pros and Cons Ap Armor Cho'gath

Pros
Blocks most of the damages of ad carries
    It helps the team
    Makes you tanky in armor
They might focus you this will help the team but a small bad news for you

Cons
It blocks more attack damage than AP (if the enemy have a mixed team then even out the magic resists and armor for greater play)
AD carrys will focus you down more will lead to team fight but Cho'gath will most likely be dead or half health once the team arrives which is bad.

Laning

If your in a lane i suggest you to go to the TOP lane this is because the carries are normally to be there and its your job to deny them the early power not by kills (if you can then thats even better) but harrassing them. This is extremely important because Cho'gath has good CC and you don't want it to be a waste and also its your job to help your ally, basically your a support pusher at early, Always! get Last hits on minions.

Your combo for Cho'gath for farming is Q > W

If your initiating for the enemy your Combo will be Q > W > E passive >(chase for a bit whilst waiting for cooldowns just in case if they escape) R they should either be dead or about to die.

Jungling

Personally i have never tried jungling with Cho'gath and i never will. Wanna know why it is because Im so bad at jungling and at ganking i get pressured because of my team constantly telling me to gank whilst im not finish jungling. Anyway since i dont do jungling heres a link below (By the way this is not me)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=***ySjM_Zu8 Copy and paste this link it will lead you to Youtube and watch the jungling route their. Dont like that route? then search for more in Youtube.
