Introduction
Nom Nom Nom!
My skill sequence is mainly aimed at getting great harass and cs early game, while getting some more damage late game. Now, there is always the argument of rupture or feral scream first, and in my opinion, rupture is the way to go. I mean, it has longer range, a better ap ratio, and more damage, so why not? The only argument that I could see for Feral Scream is that it's easier to aim, but even so, I like to take rupture first.
Now, it's very standard to take your ulti whenever possible, but it's especially true with cho. Your ulti does TRUE DAMAGE, which means that no matter how much mr they have, their still taking full damage. It also gives you quite a bit of extra health, so that's useful too. It doesn't quite have a 1 to 1 ap ratio, but I guess it'd be a bit op if it did. Meh.

So, my runes are pretty much the epitome of standardness. You take the ap quints for better harass early game with your Rupture, magic pen for the same reason, flat armor because you are a tank, and mr per level because you're a tank and you don't really need it as much early game. There really isn't any other rune page I would recommend, except maybe exchanging your marks for something a bit more defensive. But I still like this rune page best.
Masteries are also pretty standard. My one point in offense is mainly for the passive on ignite, which is pretty useful for last-hitting, and makes your harass a bit stronger. DEFINITELY better than spending four points in the offensive tree just for less ap. However, a 0/21/9 masteries page, or a 1/21/8 masteries page is just as viable imo.
So, at this point, you are probably wondering: why ignite? Shouldn't ignite be on a carry? Get teleport, yada, yada, yada. I like ignite, because it might force who your laning against to back off, or might even get you first blood, both which give you a tremendous advantage. However, teleport is better in the late game, but, as I always say (not really), if you win early game, there won't BE a late game. But yeah, teleport is viable too. So is Ghost.
Oh, and as for Flash, it's a must. Whether it's flashing over a wall, or the rupture-flash-feast combo, this spell is a must for nearly every champ, and Cho'gath is not an exception.

My main item build is the same one that was used at the IEM by HotshotGG, getting the frozen heart into FoN into wit's end. However, there are many other viable alternatives that can be used for Cho'gath.
Randuin's Omen- I like this item a lot, and it has a very nice active, but i personally just think Frozen heart does a better job of the armor component of your tankiness. The only times i would get this item is if I am having a hard time last hitting and want to get a gold for 10 item just to add some extra income.
Thornmail- This item is very useful if you are up against huge auto-attackers such as Trynd, Yi, Ashe, Twitch, etc etc. However, this item is better for an off-tank like Warwick, cause the opponents would be mad to focus you in any fight, so the passive is kinda useless, whereas you can be useful Frozen Heart just by standing there. But if you see a Tryn, Yi, Twitch, Ashe, and Tristana on the loading screen, this is the item to go with.
Sunfire cape- NEVER get this item. Other tanks might be better with this item, but it is just horrible on Cho'gath. It doesn't do much for him, and annoyingly will pull tower aggro onto you. Just don't.
Warmog's-Cho has 900 extra health from his ulti. He kinda doesn't need extra health.
Leviathan-don't need extra health, although it is worth it if you can maintain it at 20 stacks... so the bottom line is that it isn't worth buying ;)
Rod of ages-Actually, this item is not miserably horrible on Cho, but I don't get it because it doesn't really boost your damage too much, and the health and mana aren't really too great for Cho.
Rabadon's Deathcap-This is a pretty decent late-game item for cho cause it immensly boosts his damage output, but if you are going to get this item, remember to get it last, cause it really is just a slight damage boost for him.
