Your choice of masteries are always depent on the enemies you're facing. It is true that DFT suits Xerath and his kit the best; better than Thunderlord's Decree. However, this leaves you with an early-game that's weaker than usual. If you can get away with this, for example against enemies who don't have powerspikes until later in the game or have little pressure, you should indeed pick DFT over Thunderlord's. It will, however, happen that you are facing enemies who have a powerspike in the early- or mid-game. This is when you are going to have to scare people off and prevent them from engaging onto you. This is best done with Thunderlord's, as it provides a lot of burst damage, especially earlier in the game.
Simply put, you scale harder with DFT, allowing you to deal more damage. However, if you're falling behind becase you picked this mastery, you'll eventually deal less damage, because you have no gold and as such no items. Thunderlord's is the safer choice, DFT is for when you can get away with picking it and have a good sense of positioning.
As for what ability to start, it (again) depends on the enemies. 'q' gives you damage, 'e' gives you peeling potential and 'w' gives you a bit of both. So it simply depends on what you need. If the enemy is likely going to try level 1 cheese you (be it their jungler or the mid-laner), I'll take my 'e' first and let the wave shove into me (e.g. vs a

I update one part and then the other non updated part confuses people, and I have so mutch to say that I dont know how because there is too little tools, Im still wating for a certain update what should fix my guide ENTIRELY
thank you for your compliment. I did put a lot of work into coding to get it this way, though after you've found out how the principles work, it's actually quite easy.
After going through your guide really quickly, one thing which grabs my attention is your use of an extremely large amount of different colors. This way people get distracted by the colors and the message you're trying to convey won't be received. Secondly, I would suggest working with some different sizes. For example, Making the headers large, the sub-headers medium and the regular text a smaller size already gives you a lot more readibility.
I don't know whether you've done so yet, but I would suggest checking out Jhoijhoi's guide on making guides. It can teach you a lot of things about how to stay structured, giving you both good and bad examples. It helped me out a ton. Besides that, it comes down to simply trying. Create an idea in your head, try to realise it, and if it doesn't work out like you planned it to, simply try again.
To answer your question in short: yes, I would start a new guide, though you can copy some parts. I would, however, hold on to doing this until pre-season hits. If you decide to rewrite your guide now, it may have been in complete vain due to the large amount of changes. In the meantime, you can start doing some research into how to make your guide functional. If you hit any bumps along the way or have any specific questions, feel free to let me know. :D
Cheers
The main reason I archive it because it was the top veiwed Xerath guide, but after I did a big update it was just in a mess and I did not want other people to just get confused and ... yeah (btw are you in the Xerath discord server, if yes say your name)

Its nice to see a guide where the writer gave effort to it (talking about you), in my guide I dont want to type too mutch to not scare people of reading it, , the problem with your guide is if RIOT changes one thing you will need to do alot of work to edit your guide. (obviusly if you like to edit its not a problem)
And thank you for the wierd items you buy for him, I will be sure to try them out ;)
Its just nice to see a guide of a similar level to the top mobafire guides on a unpopular champ again :) gj
+ Very well organized!
- Replace
- Small nitpick: consider using icons that better match the green and red sections. For instance, the orange from
- You don't need to list the ability details because just mousing over the icon provides all that information. Instead, this is the place where you can provide your own description/insights/details that go beyond what the wiki says.
- The "Combo's" section doesn't need the apostrophe (just use "Combos"), but it does need more explanation. When should I use Heavy Harass instead of Standard Laning Poke? What kind of mana costs should I take into account (current level, mana regen items, enemy health, etc). I shouldn't just know what the combos are, I need to know when to use them and why.
- This section could also probably be a little more in-depth. I have never played Xerath but I find it hard to believe there's only 3 combos worth mentioning (For example,
+ Xerath is pretty straightforward, so no arguments here. Solid logic for your rune choices.
- If you want to spend some time improving the look of your guide, start here. While it's formatted well enough, it looks kinda boring.
- The wiki bar taken from the cheat sheet at the top of this section is unnecessary. It doesn't communicate the information very well, since players are used to seeing masteries laid out in the tree (which you have included down below, huzzah!).
-
- If you don't use a particular summoner spell for 90-95% of the games you play, don't even mention it here.
+ Great explanations of the Discussion-based items.
- Gameplay, more so than any other section in a guide, needs VISUALS. Pictures, GIFs, videos, anything to help communicate your thoughts to your audience without resorting to large hunks of text to digest. Show me how to zone an enemy from CS. Show me where to put a pink ward (there's 6 spots I can think of off the top of my head). Most importantly, show me how to teamfight - exactly how far back I should be, who to target, etc. with a visual of some kind. I cannot stress how important this is!!
Overall, this guide is extremely tight! It's well organized, formatted, and written, and aside from a few very small issues, everything but the gameplay section doesn't need much work at all.
However, the gameplay section is very mediocre. You don't go into very much detail (only covering the basics), and you don't show how, why, or when to do the things you describe (the decision-making aspect of gameplay). Put in pics, videos, or GIFs ASAP to break up those long walls of text. Finally, don't be afraid to spend A LOT of time in this section! Gameplay is by far the most important part of your guide; it should usually be the biggest section.
Even though the gameplay section is weak, this guide still gets a 4 out of 5 because of how well done the rest of it is! Take an upvote :)
Thank you very much for your clear review, definitely a +rep.
