heres the lane setup i played some games ago,
amumu and me, as shen, were laning against a ryze and sion ( dont ask me y abt lane comps ). I maxed w and e, with 1 point in q at lvl 3 when we needed the heal.
The amumu said i was a noob since i didnt max q and started with e.
Its a low elo normal game, me having around 110 wins.
My reason for starting with e was to catch ppl with my taunt and let my lane partner do the damage. I figured i had enuf damage with ki and normal attacks.
Reason i max w early was due to the snare and stun combo i fear.
Is that the right way to go?
Thanks.
However I dun really agree with your skill sequence. I know that Feint is great with it's low CD, but Shen is alr so tanky that of u really needed such a powerful shield to survive, then something must be really really wrong with your lane. You dont need such a powerful shield at low levels. However, after the Shen buff, his Q actually does decent dmg and is superb for zoning... I have outpoked a Vlad at solo top, then chased him down for the kill and a first blood. And whats better is the life tap that increases with the lvl of your Q, allowing your carry to regain HP after being harassed. It's definitely something which makes Shen a viable support, because Feint doesn't help u support better than any other meat shield.
I'm not sure about Frozen Mallet since it is just a single person slow. It won't help in teamfights, since a slow doesn't reduce their attck speed or something, so it's only good for chasing, but then u have Shadow Dash for that. It is also an extremely expensive item which is hard to get on a tank even with Mercenary.
Hope to see some more tank guides as thorough as this one, when you get the time.
EDIT : Update is done thank you again :)
