Evelynn was a long time the probably most hated champion in the League of Legends, after her stun nerf you didn't see her that often.

But now she got buffed and we see a completely new Widowmaker armored with a lot of useful abilities to rip her enemies apart.

Why should you play her in mid?

Evelynn got pretty good ratios on all of her 3 damage abilities, of course you could play her in the jungle, but do you really want to need successful ganks to get atleast some items?
I don't think so, her Q Hate Spike is a perfect way to farm, and her Stealth + Shadow Walk are saving her while she's pushing, and you really want to be pushing because you are stealthed nearly all the time they never now weather you are back, waiting for the next wave or just about to lose their game because of a strong and surprising gank.

Pros:

1. Her passive stealth, Shadow Walk
2. Her farming ability, Hate Spike
3. Tanky compared to other Ap Carries, Agony's Embrace
4. Strong Burst
5. (Confusing enemy team in draft mode)

Cons:

1. Squishy without her shield
2. Not a real stealth
3. Easy to gank early
4. Gets destroyed by hard CC

The runes of Evelynn ap mid are pretty much like every AP Mid runes

Marks

Greater Mark of Magic Penetration I don't think anything else does make sense because you really need that magic penetration in mid lane.

Seals

Greater Seal of Replenishment Pretty useful for farming at lane (When you are farming you won't be in favor of your passive the most time)

Greater Seal of Armor Is something i really much like vs mid champions that melee you a lot, like f.e. Twisted Fate, Orianna and Kassadin.

Greater Seal of Magic Resist I do not own these but i guess they are pretty useful in mid, it's your choice if u prefer mana regeneration or less damage from attacks.

Glyphs

Greater Glyph of Ability Power Pretty much like at every Ap Carry: You want Ap - there we go.

Greater Glyph of Cooldown Reduction These runes are worth a try because you will do your main damage with your Q.

Quintessences

Greater Quintessence of Ability Power You want Ap

Other choices are surely viable but i prefer these quintessences just for the 15 Ap, it's really nice to start with 30 Ap.

Anyways, i prefer flat runes everywhere because you want to get as much farm as possible in your early game.

I won't talk about every single point, i just want to say, that i focus on CDR the rest of these masteries are just for survivability, or other useful things like more experience and faster movement speed.

In this chapter i will only talk about items which could need an explanation, so i don't include rabadones or boots.

You start with Boots and 3 Health Potion just to avoid getting hit by skillshots and to heal up if u get harassed.

The 2 Dorans Ring you will get to have more life get more Ap early and for the additional mana regeneration

Your first Core Item will be Abyssal Mask it's like 70ap and 20 Mpen, together with the Mpen of your boots and the Mpen of your runes you got nearly 50 Mpen (Enemy Champions without Mres items will fall down to 0 Mres).

Deathfiresgrasp Just improves your awesome burst. At your final build Deathfiresgrasp + Agony's Embrace are like 70% of the enemy HP.

The rest of your build is just to increase your damage and there is nothing special about it.

As Evelynn there are 2 Ways to farm:

Lasthitting

Thats what you try to do with all your champions, just finish of targets with 1 hit to not push to far because there is always the possibility of getting ganked.

Pushing

As Evelynn you can push without staying too long, because of your q u can just take position next to the -Line- of caster/melee minions and hit all 3 with your q - After clearing 1-2 waves you gank Bot/Top.
Care: Evelynn is able to do REALLY early ganks even at lvl 2 or 3, and you should try to do so, because the chance to get off a kill is high.
After some time you will be able to not fall back in Exp while doing this.

Not much to say about that just that Evelynn is a great ranked pick in my opinion if the enemies see Evelynn they underestimate her or expect her in jungle, also there are not many counters to Evelynn the most counters to her are Permabans.

Finally I think Evelynn isn't as bad as most players say, I like her really much and my ranked win ratio with her isn't bad aswell, 73.7% at ~1270 Elo.
