Introduction

My summoner is RyZe VG, and I am a Gangplank main. I am not the best Gangplank, but I am making this for lack of recent Gangplank Guides. Currently I am Gold 3 and have 136 games on Gangplank in ranked with a 66% win rate. This is also my first guide and am open to criticism.

Gangplank's Strengths

High AOE Damage
Great Map Pressure
Ability to One Shot
Challenging Champion With Unique Mechanics
Very fun to play!

Gangplank's Weaknesses

Weak Laning Phase
Barrel Mechanics take getting used to
Some games you will feed in laning phase

Laning

Laning with Gangplank can be frustrating, as his laning phase is weak, but team fighting and baiting are where Gangplank specializes. During laning you must focus on farm. When an enemy minion is in a bad spot (on top of your laner) use your Q to kill it to avoid taking damage. Avoid using to many barrels during laning phase as they only shove the lane, instead use your Q on the minions and they enemy laner. Try to keep map awareness Gangplanks ultimate is VERY good for global map pressure. Try to not group until level 13 so your barrel CD are at the lowest.

Grouping

This is where you shine. One well placed GP barrel could completely turn around a team fight and win you the game. Place barrels on the sides of the lane, if anyone gets close use one of the two barrels to combo them. Learning to 3 barrel is almost essential, it is the easiest way to land barrels on the enemy team.

This guide was made because of the lack of Gangplank guides, If it helps anyone then I am glad I took the time to make it. Learning to play GP takes skill and lots of time, I hope to see some of you climbing with him.
