HELLO EVERYBODY THIS IS RAMON'S guide to playing Garen, influenced through my own playstyle, It requires a fair amount of skill considering you'll be pressing item abilities instead of just your hero abilities. When and when to not use spells and abilities will be on your own judgement and playstyle.

Garen is a Early-Mid game hero. His late game isn't the greatest, even with stacks. His ult will prove useful though.


THE LEGEND OF GAREN
Throughout Valoran, the resolve of Demacia's military is alternately celebrated or despised, but always respected. Their ''zero tolerance'' moral code is strictly upheld by civilians and soldiers alike. In combat, this means Demacian troops may not make excuses, flee, or surrender under any circumstance. These principles are espoused to their forces by unrivaled demagogues who lead by example. Garen, the valiant warrior who bears the title ''the Might of Demacia'', is the paradigm to which these leaders are compared. Thousands of great heroes have risen and fallen on the bloody battlefields between Demacia and its preeminent rival, Noxus. It was beneath their mighty banners of war that Garen first met steel with Katarina, the Sinister Blade. The infantrymen who beheld this event (and survived) commented that it seemed as though the two were locked in a mortal waltz against a symphony of clashing blades.

Garen, the pride of the Demacian military and leader of the Dauntless Vanguard, returned from this battle breathless for the first time in his career, though some speculate that this was due to reasons other than exhaustion. The plausibility of these rumors was bolstered when, in every instance thereafter, Garen seized the opportunity to encounter the Sinister Blade again. A paragon of Demacian ethic, Garen never entertained such allegations, for he knew others couldn't understand. Even simply the pursuit of a worthy opponent on the battlefield is, to a true warrior, the reason to rise each morning. The promise of one, particularly so beautifully and diametrically opposed, is the validation of his existence.

HIS PASSIVE PERSEVERENCE Garen will regenerate 0.5% of his maximum health per second after not receiving damage for 7 seconds. ABUSE THIS PASSIVE AND YOU WILL BE HELL TO THEM
Garen gains a 15 / 20 / 25 / 30 / 35% speed boost for 3 seconds. His next attack deals 150% of his base damage plus 30 / 45 / 60 / 75 / 90 bonus damage and silences his target for 2.5 seconds.
THIS CAN MAKE YOU FEARED BY KAT NUNU BECAUSE OF ITS SILENCE
ALWAYS FARM MINIONS AND YOULL GET MORE ARMOR AND MAGIC RESIST Passive: Garen's armor and magic resist are permanently increased by 0.5 every time he kills an enemy unit. This bonus is maxed at 5 / 10 / 15 / 20 / 25.

Active: Garen places a defensive shield on himself for the next 3 seconds, decreasing all damage taken by 10 / 15 / 20 / 25 / 30%.
Garen rapidly spins his sword around his body for 3 seconds, reducing the duration of slows by 50% and dealing 60 / 100 / 140 / 180 / 220 (+120% of his bonus Attack Damage) physical damage to nearby enemies every second. Garen removes any slow effects on him at the start of the dance.

The bonus damage is further increased by Garen's critical strike chance. Damage to minions is reduced by 50%. This cannot damage invisible minions or wards.
ITS LIKE MERRY GO ROUND
USE THIS TO LAST HIT ENEMIES Garen calls upon the might of Demacia to attempt to execute an enemy champion, dealing 175 / 350 / 525 damage plus 1 damage for every 3.5 / 3 / 2.5 health they are missing.

Skill Build

E-Q-E-W-E-R-E- max Q and R and W last.

Item build

Depending on whatever item you want to start out with, the straight up way of starting it off would be with a Ruby Crystal. You want to get the gold items first for Randuin's and Shurelia's new items. (Ironic how I end up using both their items considering they're married)

Youmuu's (Shurelias) Ghostblade
Mercury Threads / Ninja Tabi (User choice)
Leviathan / Sword of the Occult (1st choice if you're losing bad, 2nd choice if you're raping) (Then get both)
End it off with a GA, why? because it's just the best item in the game for end game.

Optional: Last Whisper - Armor Pen items. Anything with crit,cooldown etc, you don't have to go snowball, just constantly stack items with attack dmg or survivability. If you're fed then usually no matter what you build with the right stats you're going to rape anyways.

Note: If you don't have more then around 6-8 stacks, just sell your snowball items for something else, because if you start to lose fights you become weaker, you usually only do this if your team is failing really hard or you dont have anymore room to buy good items.

How to play Garen

1.ABUSE THE HELL OUT OF HIS PASSIVE.
2.Silence the casters or people like kat, nunu, etc that do all the dmg.
3.Press W when you know you're gonna get hit hard or constantly, it'll reduce dmg dramatically.
4. Press E in the middle of groups of people or press Q to speed up to get in the middle, good for solo killing too.
5.Use ult on those with 20-30% HP, the more HP they're missing the more dmg it will do.
6.Wait for your cooldowns stop being stupid when you run into a group of 5 then all your summoner spells and item abilities are down, then it's like OOPS this isn't where I parked my car.
7.Go back to base or stay in the area. Choosing to heal off your passive or going to base is off your own judgement, use Q to move around, don't be an idiot and stay in a lane with no HP just to feed, it's better to let a tower die then get owned. Especially when you have snowball items, and a good R to last hit kill with to get charges.
8.Neutral buffs don't help as much they would on other characters try to give them to your teamates if they're smart, if not just take it for yourself.
9.Take solo mid if your team sucks. (trust me)
10.Type /taunt /laugh/ joke to provoke your enemies. (This works sometimes, be creative you're not fighting bots)
