Hi, this is my first guide, so please be gentle.

I've played Irelia for a long time now, and I've done really good with this build. And this build goes to the bad Irelia players I've seen lately. Although, I'm way to lazy to look up if the same build is already entered, here it comes:

These are the runes I use, but this is personal preference:

9x Greater Mark of Desolation: Do I need to explain this? Really?
9x Greater Seal of Resilience: Lane-su-stain, being able to lane for a long time helps your farm, and you'll probably face another AD offtank at top lane.
9x Greater Glyph of Warding: Same as above, great for keeping you in lane.
3x Greater Quintessence of Swiftness: I just love these, awesome for chasing, kiting, juking and with the Items I use, you'll run like a frigging train.

This is just personal preference, but this is what I use, and it works for me.
Nothing much to be said here.

Flash: The best summoner spell that's out there.
Ignite: Just to destroy supports and to shut down healers. It can also give you that last damage to save you from tower diving, or other things alike.
Be careful for champions that can use a shield though, when I play Lee Sin, Jarvan or Udyr people tend to scream "LUCKEEEEEEEER" and rage quit when I do mah shield on the Ignite.

I max out Equilibrium Strike and Bladesurge as early as I can. Getting a point in Hiten Style lvl 3. And always max your R when you can, as usual. This will allow you to have a huge burst damage, last hit faster and just be very scary. The reason why I put 1 point in hiten style early on is to have that little lifesteal. It can actually make you lane like a madman.
And that truedamage is really helpful in battles.

I start off with a Regrowth Pendant and a Health Pot. That way you will be able take harrasment like a boss and still continue to last hit. Irelia really needs her farm, especially with this build. Rushing Triforce is really good with Irelia, and that costs a lot of money. But make sure you get the Philosopher's Stone and Heart of Gold before your Mercury's Treads.

When you have Mercs, philo and HoG, start building your Trinity Force! Starting with Phage gives you that HP you want, and that early damage. And that chance to slow your oppponent! Great item!

After your Phage, it's time to pick up Sheen. Sheen increases your burst damage like crazy, gives you some mana too, which can be a real lifesaver sometimes.

After that Sheen, just farm until you have Trinity Force. If you have to recall and can't afford Triforce, don't be afraid to pick up Zeal anyways. But I usually stay in lane until I can afford Trinity Force. Try to aim to get Trinity Force within 25 minutes, 'cause if you do, you will be able to boss around almost anyone.

Against a balanced team, you will follow this guide. If the opponents team is AD heavy, go with Sunfire Cape or Thornmail instead of Banshee's. If the opponents team is AP heave, go with Force of Nature or a Guardian Angel.

I like to build Heart of Gold into Randuim's Omen and Philosopher's Stone into Shurelya's Reverie, just for those actives. Makes you unstoppable, if used correctly.


Don't forget to buy wards when you are solo top, to avoid ganks from the jungler.

Farm, like crazy. You will be getting Solo Top lane, if you have a jungler. Otherwise, just steal your laning-partners last-hits with your "q". Makes them angry, I know. But you will carry your team in mid-late game, so tell him to not worry.

If you are Solo Top against 2 Champions, don't worry. Take last hits with your "q". Then you just wait until you outlevel them to kill them. If they try to tower dive you, stun them with "e" and laugh. Pop your ulti and gain life whilst they're stunned. If you have a problem, tell your jungler to gank ASAP. Irelia really needs farm, she really does. Don't let your opponent stop you from getting farmed.

This is when towers get destroyed, dragon fights commence and you will find yourself to be pretty brutal in small teamfights (3v3, 4v4). BUT, your job is to farm, netting free kills and just push when able (when you have vision on all the opponents champions and they are not at your lane).

If another lane needs serious help, don't be afraid to help them. Leave your lane for a sec and kill the champions in mid, return and kill top who probably pushed while you were gone. This gets me fed every game, IF I have Trinity Force while doing it.

When teamfights kick off, KILL THEM CARRIES. You could initiate a teamfight, kill that carry and escape without them even having a chance to react if you follow this:

Flash -> Bladesurge -> Hiten Style -> Equilibrium Strike -> Transcendent Blades -> Ignite -> Run

Remember though, tell your team what you're doing before doing it. That way, they will be ready to react and in this case, you will win the teamfight 4v5 pretty easily.

Don't forget Dragon and Baron at this point, it helps your underfarmed teammates or you, to get the last money you need. But watch out for the opponent, always do safe baron runs or safe dragon runs.


If things get bad and you need to defend, or you need to push fast, don't be scared to pop your ulti to clear minion waves. And "q" the **** out of them.

In late game, you could easily clean a minion wave super fast. 1 Autoattack on a caster minion and then "q" will kill them. 2 Autoattacks on the strong melee minion and then "q" will kill those pests.

This guide works on most of the offtanks in this game. Wouldn't reccomend it for Lee Sin though, since Philostone is a waste of money on him. Just consider it as a free "whatever-slot".

This guide works really good on Jarvan, Udyr, Trundle and Wukong.


And this is also the first guide I write, so I kinda need help with commands and neat tricks and whatnot. I tried to make it as goodlooking as I could.
