The Short & Sweet

I love kassadin, he is such a fun champion to play and if played skillfully will deliver unto you the bounties of victory.

Kassadin is a mobile caster with a melee AA(auto attack) though he is slow at first once you get his ult **** gets real. You will have to play cautiously until then as you are quite vulnerable. That being said kassadin does a lot of damage even when you have low AP (200-300ish) so building him tanky is best as he tends to be up close in personal more so than many casters.

Dominion?

Yep, pretty much play that exclusively now, as summoners rift takes forever, and if you get a ****py team(something you can generally figure out in the first 5 minutes) you are about to spend 15-30 minutes pissed the **** off. Its not worth it. Dominion is quicker, you get stuck in a ****ty game, guess what 10 minutes and you're out. Dominion is game of almost exclusively tactics, to play effectively you need to have your wits about you, and map awareness is key. Team play is extremely important and a lot of times a person running around the jungle area will trying to gank or ninja cap will cost you the game.

Runes

I am pretty stoked with my new runes I got specifically for kassadin, I generally go with the 9 magic pen 68 Ap at 18 as the additional AP per 18 didnt seem to give me as much of a boost as the 9 magic pen.

Cool down is pretty great for kassadin so if you cant afford to buy new runes cool down or tanky runes will do adjust your item build slightly to accommodate this(definitely pick up the 9 magic pen marks though).

Masteries

Tanky masteries work best for kassadin as far as I'm concerned, as previously stated kassadin will be at melee range often, this is because his W does significant damage since they changed it as well as his ult in order to do damage requires you to land on an enemy. His other skills have a general short range on top of all that, so you will need to be able to soak up some damage.

There are 2 options up there, I prefer the first set 9/21/0, as always try things out for yourself, shop around.

Items

Ok this is complicated, dominion is such a chaotic and different experience every time you will generally not build the same item set every time and generally you will only get to pick out 3 or 4 items(though I have had maybe a handful of games that went to 30 minutes and we all got full items). Really knowing your champion(and everyone else's in the game) in a way I cant explicitly lay out here is what you need to have flexible item build for any circumstance.

That being said, first item is absolutely going to be a catalyst, I dont really find boots for the first fight to be all that necessary, pop your ghost to get up top you will be ok, after the fight you should have enough gold to buy boots regardless of whether or not your team secured top. After catalyst and boots pick up either ROA or Odin's Veil. Honestly I am in love with Odin's Veil if you can remember to do it, it really does add significantly to the damage you can do, as well as stacks nicely with kassadin's already 15% magic damage reduction(25% WOOO!).

Obviously Sorcerer's Shoes

Afterwards Morrello's or Nashor's for CDR and more AP. Morrello's is cheaper, gives more AP but Nashor's gives kassadin more attack speed and actually his W does significant damage now when you have some AP.

Here is where things get murkey, the items up above (Rylai's, Haunting guise, Abyssal, Deathcap) are all great items but expensive and you may need to counter a berserk AD champ by grabbing a frozen heart or thornmail and totally dont be afraid to do it either, with your previous 3 items your damage should be decent already. Most of the time you can run back to a tower to handle a fight anyway so make sure you are surviving.

Sometimes if there is an akali or god forbid an eve/twitch(do not pick these champions they are worthless as they can not help your team when vulnerable and being beaten, these champions are only useful when the enemy team is weak, so half the time its like you are asking your team to 4v5, really its just a big "**** you!" to your team) *end tangent* sometimes I will buy a Hextech sweeper(for some reason this is not in the mobafire item database) its pretty funny to watch akali's and the like not understand how you are hitting them and an eve is completely taken out of the game with this.

Skill Sequence

At the start take 2 points in null sphere and one in force pulse. Ask your team to charge your force pulse so you have it ready when you hit the summit.

As per usual max kassadin's Q first, taking a point in your W at some point and maxing ult and force pulse as they come.

Summoner Spells

Really this is a tough call, look at your team, no more than one ignite is needed per team in dominion, exhaust is really king here, also I have really stopped using flash and prefer ghost though kassadin is one of the few champs that flash is pretty useful for on dominion in my opinion.

Clense is pretty great for kassadin, but you will probably be better of with exhaust really exhuast ghost all I use now. Please feel free to play around with summoner spells.

Farming

Really you should not be doing much farming on dominion, though kassadin can push creeps effectively and thus makes an ok champion to go bottom with but he does much better at top being able to CC as well as add some AOE.

Summary

All said and done cool down on rift walk should be 3 and some change(3 at flat 40%cdr) when you need get the hell out 3 seconds is a long time so be careful using rift walk. Kass is tanky and hits like a truck he is an ideal champion for defending a point and chasing down weak enemies(seriously do not chase on dominion unless you are certain every other enemy is either dead or too far to intercept you).
