I was around searching for a new Adc, because I really was needing one yet the famous ones do not suit my tastes, then I found Kog and was reminded how was playing with him, but was quite hard for me choosing between he and Graves, both are pretty cool, but I opted for Kog, his % life per AA are just too awesome, love your build Frozen Mallet and BoTRK are two of my favorite itens.

One question tough, does Liandry's work on Ap Kog' Maw? Magic Pen usually is pretty good and the passive Synergizes very well with Rylai's. Thank you for everything.

Nice guide. Learned to play AP kog on ARAM, where he is just stupidly OP. Play him on Summoner's kinda often now in mid, it's really nice, though I get a tear first (sometimes as first item a Doran's Blade so I can farm and sustain myself) and then the first part of a Holy Grail for the Mana Regen. I actually need that; even with the two big mana-regen-items I run out of mana all the time, even with blue, cause I spam my R all the time all over the map. In lvl 16 it has just a stupidly long range that you can use it all the time to farm (monsters, minions or champs) that I use it really often. I also get 40% CDR if possible so I can use it more often; last time I also got a Hextech Gunblade so I can also kill everybody who comes close to me and then gain the health back so I can stay in the fight longer cause of the Spell Vamp. It's really nice and works rather well, though I am kinda ignoring Magic Resistence with this build and could possibly make way more damage with a Void Staff + Magic Pen shoes. But I don't feel he's about the damage so much, it's more the psychological effect. A very well farmed Nasus ran at me, I slowed him and started running, he wanted to go back, but no, I just killed him while he was running from me, was really funny.

Anyway, +1 for sure :)

I actually have no idea how to include a +1 in a comment. I'll just click above.

In my opinion you should add a skills explanation section with tips and tricks and stuff.

For those wondering why Q is built so late.... it doesn't synergise with your W nearly as well as your E does. E + R + W Combo is vital for kills in laneing phase & the Q is only really useful once you start facing tanks with high HP bars late in the game + the range goes against the Kog'Maw play style.

Also don't pick ignite as you need as much survivability as possible and as stated above if you're close enough to ignite then you're playing Kog'Maw wrong.

Im not sure if this has been previously answered, but why start out with boots and life steal before IE? You do so little damage that it hurts you.

I don't think the build guide is set in stone, in fact, it's probably best if your build adapts to your situation. If you're against a heavy poke lane you might need the extra lifesteal for sustain or boots so that you can avoid skillshots (Blitzcrank's rocket grab comes to mind >_>). If you don't feel you need it, then go for a bigger item :)

@Muchacho830, To be honest, its a matter of personal preference, playstyle, enemy team composition and item builds. In my opinion, I would almost never replace IE in a Kog'Maw build because it's so vital for his tremendous damage output and it's synergy with Phantom Dancer is just too good. If you were gonna try a Kog Build without an Infinity Edge, you should probably change the other crit items too. If anything, replace BotRK with Bloodthirster if the enemy team isn't stacking health or if you need to bring down squishy targets faster.

The one critless build on Kog that I use is for ARAM and even then is pretty situational. It involves kiting while doing heavy hybrid damage to multiple enemies, which isn't the greatest for standard games, but works well when you're fighting clumped up teams from the start.

[Berserkers, Muramana, Blade of the Ruined King or Sanguine Blade, Trinity or Mallet, Runaan's, [free item slot]]

- Tear/Muramana helps you to poke down enemy early, BotRK or Sanguine for sustain, Trinity or Mallet for kiting, and Runaan's to apply all of those effects in addition to your w to multiple enemies.

I love the build, but I have a question for everyone. Is it valid to replace the infinity edge with the bloodthirster? I have been curious, so feedback is welcomed.

When I first started playing league, I was absolutely terrible. I would always end up being horribly negative and my friend jokingly suggested that I should play Kog so that I would at least be useful when I died. So, with his advice, I tried out Kog'Maw during his free week and immediately fell in love with his playstyle. 6300 IP later, he was the first champion that I ever bought.

I've been through a lot with Kog, getting my first pentakill and many after, carrying 3v5's, and even successfully jungling with him on several occasions. I play him often, both as Ap and Ad, and I can say that your guide is the best I've seen yet. While I don't agree with everything in your guide, I respect the fact that everyone has a slightly different playstyle and that different things work for different people. (One thing for me is that rylais is absolutely core on AP kog, even if you take ghost, because if someone is slowed, you will get more damage off on them in the same amount of distance run. I'm not suggesting you change that, I'm just giving my opinion.)

One thing I found is your information on Lich bane is outdated; it no longer does physical damage; the on-hit damage is magical and equal to ?75% Ap I think. Still a fantastic item for Kog. Also, for me, the link to Froggen's Ap Kog video was broken. Might just be me.

Overall, fantastic guide. Found myself saying OMG LOL SO TRUE on several occasions and even learned a couple things. I'm glad that you emphasized the fact that he's reliant on his teammates and doesn't singlehandedly destroy everything, and pointing Ap enthusiasts to Froggen is probably the best thing you can do. There are a few replays of him on YouTube, and they are all excellent for learning. Happy spitting! ;)
