Generally, most casters get the Catalyst to stay in lane longer get a quick RoA since that generates a lot of health over time. Couple that with a Rylai's and you'll be looking at about 3000 hp when both items are complete and RoA is maxed out. I would suggest not getting Malefic visions as ur lvl 1 skill. You would want to get Call of the Void first and use it in the fountain until ur Voidling is ready to spawn and once u get to lane, just last hit until u get to lvl 2 and get Malefic Visions to farm easier with ur Voidling targeting the Malefic Visioned minions.

As you stated in the guide, Mejai's is generally only good if you're doing good, but you should probably get one since ur guaranteed a kill/assist if u use Null Zone, Malefic Visions, and Nether Grasp all ontop of each other. Which is basically Malzahar's instagib combo. I would suggest adding in a section of the guide showing his combos.

Oh and an early Hextech Revolver is an amazing asset to laning. Since ur Malefic Visions bounces and does so much damage, you'll heal up really fast, basically giving u free mana and health. I would suggest getting this after ur lvl 1 boots

i would recommend to get some hp early on, beacasue you're a nuker and of the mejai's you will be focused pretty hard. Maybe get a cataclyst or 2 dorans rings early
