Interesting guide, im not really a fan of offtank/top Maokai, but is this for top or mid?

None the less, here are my 2 cents.

1st, I recommend jungle, not lane. Your ganks are so amazing as a jungler that I do not think lanning is necesary at all. He doesent excel in lane, when he does oh so well in jungle. This comment does not affect the guide what so ever, its just a playstyle difference that I completly enjoy.

As for the guide itself, here it is.

1. You seem to get Rod of the ages RoA fairly late into the game. You should get it just after boots, the reason is because
a) Early game is when you need the mana
b) It takes 10 minutes to maximise, so getting it 40 minutes in means it isnt strong until 50 minutes in. Get it earlier, so it is more worth to you.

2. Heal and ignite. I will not deny that this is a amazing combo, after looking at the spells you recommended, all looks good except... DUN DUN DUN... Teleport is in the "DONT" take category? Teleport is a amazing spell on any top lane. No it doesent win teamfights and no, it doesent net kills, but it saves your turret, allows you to put global presure everywhere and to never fall behind in CS, even when you are loosing the lane.

3. Just a runes cretique. It all looks good except both armor and magic resist is flat.
If this is a top guide (because you didnt say) you will most likely be facing a ad, so get flat armor *better early* and magic resistant PER LEVEL glyphs. Same if you are mid, you know you are facing a AP champ there, so get flat magic resist blues and armor PER LEVEL seals.

4. Haunting Guise is a good mid game item. It is a problem in this build. I am not saying you shouldnt get it, but after you are maxed, sell it for either a tankier item or a void staff. It is not strong late game, the point of it is it is a cost efficient early-mid game item. Late late late game sell it for something better.

5. Masteries: Top left corner of every single mastery tree has a mastery that buffs your summoner spells. Get them. If you take heal and ignite, take the one in the offence tree and in defence. You want to buff your summoners. Do it.

6. Masteries again: 19/11/0 is not the best. the extra 2 points in defence do not outweigh the 2 points in offence. The 21st point in the offence tree is "deal 6% more damage to anyone below 40% health", do the math, you will see that is better for a ap champ then "reduces incoming damage by 2"

7. Aegis, beautiful item. Good to have if your support isnt getting it. If your support is getting it tho, then dont get it. replace it with a Sunfire Cape or some sort of armor item. This build lacks armor. Sunfireis beautiful on Maokai because your always close range. your Q is close range, your W puts you in the middle of the fight. Sunfires health/armor is nice, and then the passive just makes your damage go up abit. Overall good item on him

I still gave you a +1, its a good guide, those are just my 2 cents :P
