Other than that, pretty nice itemization(but your main build just needs that FoN replaced, yeah), but your guide looks overall bad. You should put in some eye candy. Links, headings and stuff like that.
BTW, I tried Hybrid AP/AD Morde on a custom(just for fun, i know it's stupid), and Nashor's Tooth works REALLY well. But on regular morde, probably not.
Yeah, for the "30 seconds" thing, i just exaggerated.... i didn't actually check. I guess i didn't live up to the nerd code... But anyway, for the Deathfire and Frozen heart, yeah, they give great stuff, but I find the mana part to be debilitating, and it wastes money. I often get blue buff. I know it's better on a main mage, but there's two of the buff, so i just need to beat the other team to it.
I really would like to try putting those items in, I like the idea of CdR, but I feel unless I'm getting REALLY fed, I need more Defense stuff, in addition to my core AP stuff. Next time I have a long enough game, I will sub one of those in at the end. I'll get back to you on my results. Thanks for all the feedback, by the way.
In MY playstyle, Frozen Heart is Core on tank morde, and DFG is core on AP Morde.
Morde scales a lot better with Armor than HP, so the only item to even compare with Frozen Heart is Thornmail, in which case, Your whole team benefits from Frozen Heart, and the 20% CDR is only ~770g.

Firstly, how did you get those numbers? second, you would need to sacrifice either mandatory mage items or tanky items for that, both of which you need. CdR is good, yes, but i feel there are much more important items. And actually, you can't go from 9% to 40% in one item. So you would need to sacrifice TWO items just so you can spam a bit more, and your ult is up a bit more. You don't have team fights ever 30 seconds, so you don't exactly need it up that often.
Those Numbers are MATH! Scary i know.

The 9% to 40% comparison was from 0 CDR Items/Glyphs to a 15% Item, ~6% in Runes, and the Blue Potion.
You COULD rely on blue buff, but i wouldn't support that unless it was an AP Carry build.
Also, 54s =/= 30s.
I've found MUCH Success in being able to Ace people twice in a row because my Ult lines up nicely with their death timers.
And notice the only straight AP item i got was Rabadon's, and that was at the end? I only get AP stuff that has very good other purposes as well, like lowering enemy MR, raising my MR, giving health, and slowing.
Well, I would, but I only have 6 item slots, and I have more important items to use. Also, besides his ult, he doesn't really need CdR. And with his ult, it isn't wonderful without ignite. So, if I find an item that I really like with CdR, I'll add that, but until then.... no, sorry.
With no AP, going from 9% CDR to 10% CDR is equivalent to roughly, 7 ap.
Going from 9% to 40% CDR is worth roughly 319 AP.
Also, the reason to bring mordekaiser over another AP Carry is because of the ghost.
Just an Edit, 40% CDR is worth roughly 411 AP with 0 AP, with 200 AP, it becomes worth ~544
Mordekaiser doesn't have bad ratios, he just scales terribly with AP compared to CDR and Magic Pen.
