Not Updated For Current Season
This guide has not yet been updated for the current season. Please keep this in mind while reading. You can see the most recently updated guides on the browse guides page
You ever just not want to play a game because of a champion? Same. Shaco can easily catch you off guard in your jg+easily reset your passive ticking. Also his boxes can block your q. Shaco is now a huge threat now since he can buy that new and shiny lethality item that can deal more damage through shields too!
Amumu
Amumu in preseason is just broken. It's pretty funny to say that.
Graves
I used to ban graves perma since his autos push back Daisy and it used to tilt the living shit out of me. Graves can easily counter jg and contest your camps. Any champion that has an easy time getting into your jg and possibly stealing a prepping camp is a high threat to you.
Lee Sin
I wouldn't put Lee Sin as an extreme threat, but nonetheless he is a MAJOR threat. Lee Sin has one the best clears + Skirmish abilities in the game. Ivern thrives in his ability to skirmish and outwit the enemy jungle. If Lee Sin lands a Q on you, it's pretty hard to escape since he has like a gazillion ways to jump onto your face.
Nidalee
Although Nidalee technically has a low WR vs Ivern, I do think good Nidalees can out path you and can cause a major stress fracture in the jungle. If it's a bad Nidalee, most games should be free vs her.
Master Yi
I think Master Yi is in the same category as Nidalee. A good master Yi will ruin your chances of remotely winning and a bad one can make the enemy team missing ping him to another dimension.
A good tip is to find Yi taking raptors early and wait for him to Q the raptors. Raptors then will aggro Master Yi and you can walk in and fight him since raptors won't aggro onto you since you are such a good boi druid. GG early game. I wouldn't recommend doing this but sometimes it works and you feel really good about yourself when it does. It sucks when it doesn't though ngl.
Warwick
Warwick isn't picked that much, but when he is, I sometimes get the heebie jeebies since he can fast track you below 50% health. Ivern has a healthy clear when you have smite and can regen some health with red. But if you have no smite and are trying to prep camps after a gank and getting chunked, watch your back.
Elise
Elise is strong against Ivern since she's a very high mobility + high burst champion. Ivern is a very low mobility + low burst champion. Since Ivern's move speed is of a slug on its last breath during the early game, its ridiculously easy for Elise to throw a cocoon causing you to either burn your flash or just straight out die.
Fiddlesticks
Fiddle's clear speed and counter gankability gives him and extra edge on Ivern. Fiddle is really strong in this patch with the new items and can really cause havoc for you and your team.
Lillia
For some reason, AP jgs are really tough for Ivern. I don't know why. Still trying to figure that one out for myself.
Hecarim
Speedy horse does damage. Even with your shields.
Nocturne
Nocturne can easily get to your backline and with no vision, it's sometimes difficult to save allys with a shield. He also can build that stupid shield burst leth item.
Vi
Just try to time your q with her q and you should be good. You can also deny VI R with your bush if you place it fast enough.
Vi can do early drakes and should always have vision on drake vsing VI unless you're willing to trade drake for a kill top + rift.
Udyr
I think Udyr is really strong this patch, but you can deny a lot from Udyr engages with simply just a Q. Watch out for early drakes and keep a pink ward or ask for bot lane to keep drake pit warded.
Evelynn
Some Ivern's see Eve and want to dodge. I personally like playing vs Eve since you can deny most of her damage with a well timed E. Ivern is the dominant masochist in my mind and this succcy succy should watch out for the stick.
Jax
Ekko
Time your Q before Ekko dashes into his W. Feelsgoodman.
Ekko is a really strong jg and can win games 1v9 late game. Winning vs him you'll have to take control of the map early and make sure you control tempo of the game from 0:00-~25:00. Any slip up can cause a rift in the dimension and this zaunian time boy can really fuck up your day.
Olaf
I'd say Olaf has a strange place in the preseason. His ability to take camps fast + efficient has slow down since jg camps have been buffed ever so slightly. Olaf's clear has sped down since the newly added shield on scuttle crabs as well. Olaf does not have a healthy clear so if you can find him in his jungle (I would highly advise not to
go in blind but if you see him low on a ward, do as you please) maybe you can get a kill or steal a camp.
Zac
One of the most satisfying things to do as Ivern is to Q a channeling Zac E. HE DOESN'T MOVE HAHAHA. Him and that sad blob experiment he is. Robin Williams is rolling in his grave seeing this flop of a Flubber.
Trundle
Your Q denies his engage, your R denies walkup + he cant R your daisy and steal stats which is really nice cause Daisy is practically a 6th champion front line. Trundle can't really pressure you in jungle besides interrupting your channeling passive with a pillar. Stupid troll.
Sejuani
Karthus
I love vsing Karthus. If you are a confident and independent tree. Always look and see if you can get vision in Karthus' jungle early and track the living shit out of him. You can easily steal camps and pressure him in the jungle since his jungle clear is so unhealthy + slow in the early game. Karthus does not gank much so taking advantage of your early gankability is key to winning games vs a Karthus. Timing your E with Karthus R is one of the most satisfying things to do on Ivern and most shield champs.
Rammus
If you are good at throwing your q in a great direction and placing bushes + obstructing rammus speed ball with a well placed daisy, Rammus should be an easy matchup for you. Also, this champion is always looking to go IN. Ivern is great at deescalating a gank and quickly turning it around with a well timed q and e.
Kayn
Kayn has a really strong clear and has one of the healthiest/fastest clears in the game. He can easily take your raptors and krugs and can pressure the map efficiently. The key to winning vs Kayns is to always figure out which form Kayn is going. Blue = DH or Elect which means he needs orbs from ranged champions. Red = Conqueror which means he needs orbs from melee champs. Camp the lanes accordingly, if he needs red orbs and your team has a melee top, camp top. If he's going blue kayn and needs ranged orbs, camp mid or bot if top isn't ranged.
If you're looking to avoid kayn at all costs, just go to the opposite side of the map that he is. I know this is a lot of typing but there's a lot of people out there that don't know how to play vs kayn and if you know this simple strat, you can win some pretty easy games vs this champion.
Rengar
I have learned/molded my craft as to what is Ivern/Rengar. If you ever need tips/tricks playing Ivern with a Rengar let me know. This is Rengar top with Ivern JG. I don't play it bot nor funnel mid anymore. I didn't have fun so I moved onto bigger and better things.
Camille
Camille has some of THE BEST engage options with Ivern. She can save her dashes since your q is a dash and her E range is massive so it's easy to time your shield with her e for a special delivery into enemy team :).
Cho'Gath
For the memes. T1 IVERN T1 CHO'GATH. Match made in heaven
Jax
Pretty much any champion that can use a free dash w/ your q without wasting theirs, is a +. Jax is especially strong since he can channel his e prior to using your q dash. He can also line up a free Q root for you if he EQs into team.
Alistar
Alistar supp Ivern jg is one of the most fun things to do.
Alistar is able to get a free dash from your q and he can smash the ground first and walk behind the knocked up champion and headbutt them back into your team. Really fun 10/10 should try.
Urgot
Darius
Caitlyn
Caitlyn can get massive with well placed bushes in team fights. She can trap the bushes + gain her headshots faster while autoing in bushes. Overall strong synergy with Ivern.

Hello and welcome fellow tree mains- and I'm not talking about the tanky top tree mains- I'm talkin' about the slim thicc 6'7 slam dunkin' jungle tree mains. Even if you're not a tree main and just looking at this mobafire because Ivern is finally getting a new skin after the 200 years saga Riot had with their champions, I welcome you too.
In terms of legitimacy, I have had multiple accounts hit Diamond with Ivern and one of them reaching Diamond 1 with a 75% win rate. I have personally been questioning if I should really post anything sharing the knowledge I have gained one tricking this champion, but today is the day where is stop obsessively playing Ivern and sit down to jot down a guide for Ivern. If you're more of a theory crafter and looking for the best preseason build on Ivern, definitely take a look at Jamican Banana's stream

Thank you for reading my guide! This is all a WIP as the season progresses I will be sure to update this guide. Thank you and I hope I helped you win your next League of Legends game on your climb to Challenger! I'm really excited to have the opportunity to take my knowledge and put it on a platform that other newer players can further their gameplay with. Ivern's laid back playstyle has motivated me to further keep playing this game and I hope that I can get others to enjoy his unorthodox playstyle as much as I do
