If they have a bunch of high hp heroes, work with the deathfire grasp. I found that on avg, I have about 7-800 AP giving the deathfire a nice bonus(3.5%x1 per 100 AP)=28%+30% of their current health gone with the active. If you can't nuke them down the rest, then you have horrible aim.
If they have lots of mr, then you have to void staff that mr away.
If they have mr and lots of nukage, go abyssal scepter. It combos pretty well with the masteries and runes.
If they have a veigar, get a zhonya's hourglass and pop the active stasis when you feel he's about to nuke.
Other than this, EAT PEOPLE/STACK AP.
Chapter 2
Don't stand and fight.
Plan escape routes in advanced.
Spam lucent singularity.
Wards > clairvoyance
Change your item order based on enemy actions, but don't change the build.
If the mejai's isn't stacking, switch to an abyssal scepter.
Time your action's with your team mates.
As a support, think like a sniper. Cover your team mates.
