"You don't need to farm minions, when you can just farm champions" - Shaquille O'Neal
Just hear me out okay?
I know you support mains out there are going to ***** about this build.
**** that. This is the best Bard build I have seen in a while, and there is no doubting it.
There is a reason it takes 5 seconds to find a ranked game when you have support as your preference, and that is because people think it is ****. And it really is. I don't care what you think, this build will get you freelo, and a hell of a lot of S+'s, all the while spicing up the boring as **** bot lane that all you plebs think you main.
This build will bring the alpha to that beta *** bot lane.
Introduction
I'm not going to talk about myself because I doubt you care, nor should you care. I pretty much just play a **** tonne of Bard support, and know more than you.
I can personally guarantee that this build will get you some of that bronze and silver *****.
Alpha Bard
I don't know if I can be bothered finishing this up right now, so I'll just post it as it stands.
In this section, I'll just briefly attempt to touch on the basic premise of my build in bullet points
-
>>We get a **** tonne of flat magic penetration so we do true damage to dumbass adcs
>>We stack magic damage from Item passives/actives
>>We bop them with a aa, q, aa combo
>>Get fed
>>Throw the team in your backpack
>>And carry them to victory
>>Do most damage in the team
>>ggwp
Alpha Bard
Here is where I get into the spicy stuff everyone, so sit back, relax, flop your **** out, and have a good read of this.
On release, Bard was seen as a ****ter of a Champion because people thought he did no damage.
Well, this was just because you people didn't know how to build him.
Unlike most of the other champions in League, Bard was essentially lacking in any source of damage, especially before all of the season 6 changes were implemented. In turn, this saw Bard slump to the bottom of the winrates, but more importantly, he remained strong in the hearts of the dedicated Bard mains.
This right here, my friends, is the return of Bard.
The Build
By now, a lot of you tryhard support mains will be questioning my build, but just hear me out, and give it a go. Here I'll justify the entire build.
When we pick Bard to support in the bot lane, we are essentially picking another carry. And like this, we should build like a carry. You don't need to farm minions.
This is where we come back to Shaquille's greatest quote.
To this date, I am still shocked at how much damage bard can build, and honestly, not much of it actually comes from his kit.
Bard has pretty poor ap scalings, especially given that he only has two damaging abilities, each with respective 30%, and 60% ap ratios. This is where we get onto magic penetration.
The main premise of this build here is utilising as much item burst in a single combo. As Bard's abilities cannot fulfill the ap carry role within themselves, we leave it down to other sources of magic damage to do the trick.
Using the runes and masteries listed above, you will come into lane with 23 magic penetration. With sorcerers, and some scaling from precision, you will have between 39 and 41 pen. Oh, and let me remind you that the typical adc has 42. Sound's stupid right? You will be attacking an adc who effectively has between 1 and 3 magic resist.
You: "But, If Bard has no damage, how is this useful to me?"
Me: "Shut up idiot, what do you think Thunderlords is for?"
Hopefully I don't have to go into any ability details for you betas, given that this is one hell of an advanced guide, but I'll just remind you that your meeps will activate 2/3 of the Thunderlords proc in one auto.
Thunderlords is pretty much essential to any kind of early game trading, on most poke supports. However what most people don't do, is amplify the damage of Thunderlords using magic penetration like we will.
