Easy to fight her in early since you should be able to farm as much as she does, keeping more mana for level 6. Push her as much as possible (farming properly) and buy wards to cover from ganks. At level 6, try to avoid her taunt so that you can use your ult even when she's using hers, so time it.
Akali
A melee ap. She shouldnt be a problem in early. Push her as much as possible to overfarm her and buy wards to cover from ganks. At level 6, keep your hp over 75%, start playing defensive and wait for her to jump on you (unavoidable) to start your combo.
Annie
Her range grants a good zoning over you but she's not extremely dangerous until 6. If you dont push her, she'll overfarm you with her Q. At level 6, your only chance is to gank her while she has no stun charged. Play defensive and ask for ganks. (Keep in mind that she can easily stop your ultimate)
Cassiopeia
You should have no problem with her, you farm better than her, you're a better nuker, and she's kind of squishy. Just be careful with her ult, and ganks.
Diana
Malzahar has problems with every champs that can shield themselves, Diana is not an exception. She's more vulnerable because you can focus your ultimate as soon as she jumps on you, but be careful since her E can interrupt your ult. Try to play agressive before 6 and wait for her after.
Fizz
No big differences between you both after level 2. Play deffensive after 6, avoid his ult so that you cah become offensive. If he catches you with his ult, flash away or pray to stay at 1 hp at least. (He will do the same if it's you who catch him..)
Gragas
You should have no problems with him. Avoid his barrels and if he gets close, combo him.
Heimerdinger
No chances for him, you can set your Malephic visions on her turrets. The only problem is that he can be a better pusher than you are. In that ocassion get a second doran's ring no matter what.
Karthus
Karthus is too squishy to play against a big nuker. Be offensive, exchange damages with him and watch ganks. You should loose against him.
Kassadin
Many people has told me that Kassadin is a counter of Malza. My opinion: the champ has the faculty to be it, and now he has a shield (Read Diana). He can also interrupt your ultimate and it will be more difficult to catch him over Null zone.
Katarina
No problems with Kata. You are a better farmer, a better pusher and she has to be on you to activate her ultimate. Wait for her, and kill her with your combo.
Lux
Shields mean problems. You can push her to make her spend mana on farming. Your only problem is that double shield that will cover tons of damage from all of your abiblities. If you can kill her before 6, you wont have problems if you can avoid his jail. Try to overfarm her and wait for late game.
Orianna
Shields mean problems, and Orianna is the worst with them. Her shield is enough to avoid you to kill her with your combo. She has a larger ranger than you, but you can farm quite easily if you time her shorts cds, although she will overfarm you 7/10 times. Ask for ganks, and pray to have enough damage to kill her.
Swain
Swain is the bipolar champ against malza. You should be able to kill him easily with your ult. BUT, if he's doing his, it gets complicated. Be careful, calculate your damage and dont overestimate it. After 6, play a farming game against him and attack him if he gets out of mana.
Syndra
Real Malza's counter has to be someone from the Void. Her range, her stun, her damage... She will zone you, you wont be able to even spell your malephic visions if she is good. Really difficult game. Play under turret if she's agressive and ask for ganks as much as possible.
Twisted Fate
He shouldnt be a problem. He is too squishy to resist your ult. You should farm better than him in early. After 6, if he disappears, start pushing as if there were no tomorrow, if he get kills in other lanes, you will get his turret, keep pushing until you start feeling danger. That will make him think twice about leaving your lane.
Veigar
Play offensive until 6. You should be able to overfarm him easilty. Push him so that he cannot stack AP with his Q and after 6, be careful with his stun, his combo will surely kill you.
Viktor
Shields mean problems, and Viktor can even silence you, so.. Double danger. You can easily dodge his abilities but be careful about not using your ult after he uses "Q" to shield himself: you will loose the exchange for sure...
Xerath
His range and his stun are your problems. Push with your malephic visions so that he has to focus his abilities on farming instead of focusing them on you. If you get close enough to spell your combo, he'll surely die, but be careful since he can interrupt your ult with his stun, so time it.
Yasuo
Shields mean problems, not in yasuo's case. You can take off his shield with an autoattack and wait for it to disappear. Yasuo players tends to be out of position when they use "E", try to punish him in those cases so that, when you get to 6, he wont have enough hp to jump on you with his ult. If he's 50% hp and he does it, combo him, he will die.
Zed
He has a good damage but his ultimate is useless against you. If he does it, start your ult as soon as possible (even without Null zone). Your aim is not to kill him, but to stop him dealing damage on you, (His ultimate will explode during yours). After that, spam your abbilities, you will win every exchange of damage and he'll think twice after doing it again.
Ziggs
This is what I call the ability mid for Malzahar. He has a good range but you have a better combo. Stay away from your minions and avoid the bombs he aims to you. You should be fine.
Hello everybody. I am Nozar in EUW server, and this is my first attempt to create a guide over my most played champ Malzahar (over 1k games between normal and ranked). Playing him since the first season, I've seen many Malzahar that, from my point of view, have lost the aim of what a Malzahar should be: A farming beast in early, a great nuker in mid game, a great "support" in late. So I started thinking about crafting my guide (not thinking that I am better than anybody of course) but I will try to make my contribution to all Malzahar players.
I was the kind of player that enters a guide to see the build, the maestries and maybe the skill sequence so I will try to create a short guide (A "Reading notes" Guide with some other chapters) with the most important aspects I think a Malzahar's player should take into account

What turns a good Malzahar in a Great Malzahar is to keep in mind his functions in the game. He's a good ganker but he's a better pusher. Many of your enemies will camp and gank other lanes, what you should do is, as soon as they disappear, warn your team, and push like hell. Even if they kill, the game consists on taking the Nexus, you will be doing objective by destroying turrets. Of course, if they start killing and killing, help your team. Dont be idle and try to counter gank.
IMPORTANT, in teamfights, you are not an AP nuker. Your ultimate makes you so vulnerable that you should only spell it if their adc is out of position and nobody can stun you or shield them. What you become is an AP support for your adc. Stay close to it, if anything jumps on it you will be too far to be stunned by another member of their team. Your adc will survive, and that can make the difference in a game. That doesnt mean that you should be doing nothing during teamfights, spam your abilities from the distance but be close enough to your adc to spell your ultimate on whatever goes on them.
