Champion Build Guide
Build Explained
Urgot is a high damage champion and has some of the most consistent DPS in the game. This build makes the most of his crazy on-hit attack speed with his W and destructive potential while still making it easy to stay alive and not sacrificing too much health or resistances. Here is why I've chosen each item and rune.
Runes
Press the Attack: This rune is easily activated with Urgot's W. Even from the early game, you can push out so much damage with this rune.
Triumph: Better than the other options and a game changer in clutch teamfights. The extra gold is always nice too.
Legend Tenacity: Urgot lacks in some defense and the other two options are useless with this build. Remember, Urgot has a very fast attack speed with his W, but his attack speed cannot be changed from the 3 hits per second it is default at. This makes Legend Alacrity very useless. Legend Bloodline can be a good option, but since we aren't building any other sustain, Legend Tenacity provides the most value, especially since CC is the best way to shut down Urgot.
Conditioning: Urgot is a mid-game champion that has a high potential to carry. I take this rune for some extra defense in the midgame. Bone Plating can be a good choice if you have a bad lane matchup.
Overgrowth: Perfect for extra health and the increase of max health actually also increases your damage because of your item passives. Many of your abilities also deal damage based on max health, so this rune fits perfectly.
Items
Kraken Slayer: This item works insanely well on Urgot because of his W. Your attack speed is so high that you will constantly proc its ability to deal true damage that scales on attack damage (which Urgot has a lot of). Keep in mind, this is true damage, which means you have some of the best magic resistance and armor penetration damage in the game. On top of that, when we build our other items, you will absolutely shred armor. Since your attack speed is 3 hits per second with your W, you will be doing true damage every single second you use your W, which is immensely powerful.
Titanic Hydra: This item is so good on Urgot for two reasons. First, it deals damage based on bonus health. Urgot will have 2100 bonus health by the from his items alone, which makes this item so good in terms of damage. Second, its AOE cleave paired with your passive and W give you some immense range and waveclear. Although this item was nerfed, it still remains a viable option.
Black Cleaver: This item completely destroys armor. The best way to counter this build is to stack armor, so building this item makes that less effective. It also gives a nice extra pool of bonus health. You know that that means? It means more damage based on max health. You will also be able to apply stacks extremely quickly with the attack speed from your W. Perfect synergy.
Sterak's Gage: The perfect item that balances defense and offense. It gives the same amount of health as Black Cleaver as well as shield to protect you when you're low. The 50 damage it provides is also a major buff to your attack damage.
Warmog's Armor: Currently the best late game item for this build because of Titanic Hydra's nerf. The extra 800 health will greatly increase your attack damage and at the same time make you tankier.
Boots: Take Mercury's Treads if against AP, take Plated Steelcaps against AD.
Ability Sequence
R: Place points into this ability whenever possible. The execute and fear can be paramount to winning a battle or even a teamfight if you can hit the skillshot.
W: Always max this first. This ability is your bread and butter. After you powerspike at level 9 you should always keep this ability active.
E: Max this second as it is your only engage tool, the shield can be really helpful as well.
Q: Your most useless ability. Max last. I would only use this to poke an enemy laner or to slow down a fleeing enemy.
End Note
This guide is not meant to show anyone how to play Urgot but rather share a fun and viable build you can use to play with the champion. I hope you enjoy!
