love the build I did really well when I tried for the first time the other day. I went 12/2/15 by the end of the game.

BTW people were getting mad because I used Taric as a top lane instead of support and I shoved it off and at the end everyone was like WOW.

so thanks for the other uses of Taric.

Dear guys , i have to test it further in this season....having high armor was one of the best part of being taric top, unfortunaly the new items are just outrageous on the bruiser top like Riven , Darius and much more AD based: those who were countered by hybrid Taric (now just think to the Black Cleaver ).
In these days i'm playing multiple roles and i'm going more on ranked as a support.
I will rework this guide as soon as i will test and theorycraft a little more.
@Ainvar
i used to start blade sometimes to help last hit in early phase, ring is usefull too but since our lack of escape move i reccomend to start out with boots.
Teemo AP top is boring and kind of a counter to this Taric.
First of all he's ranged and magic damage dealer, the best combination to counter Taric top. He will use E passive to poke us often, and in 1vs1 open fight he will blind us reducing most of the damage dealt from AA and armor reduction.
Is still possible to win the fight if u play your chance smart, let him blind u and let reach 50% hp pool ( Guinsoo's Rageblade passive is activated) , find a way to slow him during his w, heal yourself, chase him down dodging mushrooms. Maybe a Wit's End and some other magic damage reduction item could help. Unfortunately he will reduce also the gank's chance from your jungler, and we needed those :(.
A hard lane.
@andry
in all honesty i feel lost too at the moment. As i said i will rethink the build to adapt it to the new season. I think that AS AP and AD ( in this order ) are still the best bet on hybrid taric. Guinsoo's Rageblade and Nashor's Tooth still good item to rush. Tanky item will be so good , Iceborn Gauntlet , Black Cleaver, Ohmwrecker are the items i would give a chance to get tankyness and damage ( diving chance). Having no gap closer / escape move, except your stun, Hextech Gunblade could come in help with his active, or Blade of the Ruined King to steal movement speed and some nice passive tho.

Since Exhaust change (nerf??) , maybe Cleanse could be more useful to chase/escape...

Nice guide, a good read (funny sometimes).
I do have a couple of questions for you.
First of, why not Doran's Ring instead of Blade?
In my logic, the mana regen cannot hurt (cause well, let's be honest, the stun is not exactly cheap),
the AP is nice... you see where I am going with this.
Second, I particularly liked your champion match-up section although I found it very passive, you know?
As if you, as Tarbrid would never ever be able to get a kill on your own (opponent's natural OPnness notwithstanding). Anywho, I also wanted to ask you for some tips against AP Teemo top, which seems to be particularly en vogue these days, and also on Vi, if you have anything useful to give (as you know, she's all about breaking your armor... *sigh*). Anyway, thanks for the guide, keep up the good work!

Any luck on a guide for new items? personally, i'm half lost when i try and do hybrid taric, because i'm not sure if i should still just build the same, or use new items, and if so what? so if you could help out an outrageous taric fan, would love it. =)

I've played support Taric for many months, often stealing kills with my ult or my w. finnaly my adc friend told me to just give up support and go damage Taric. so after some searching i found this guide, took it top a few times AND COMPLETELY WRECKED the first 2 games. i love this build, thank you very much.

ps: that video is freaking hilarious.
