Introduction
-Udyr is great for burst damage with Tiger Stance. Some people do prefer this over Pheonix Stance
-With Turtle Stance, he can take most hits and heal them back up
-Bear Stance is very helpful mid game, possibly getting you more kills
When building Udyr, I grab Wriggle's Lantern first no matter what. The Madred's Bloodrazor and Trinity Force can be switched depending on the game. The last 2 items are completely situational. I usually get a Warmog's and Atma, but thoes can be switched.
-Such as... Forces of Nature, Randuin's Omen, Guardian Angel and etc.

Udyr may be a bit of a hard charecter to lane with ~ which may be why there are many jungle Udyrs. In my build, you will get a Wriggle's Lantern which is very helpful to lane with...
-Armor, damage, lifesteal, a free ward?, small chance to deal extra damage to minions? What more can you ask for?
So most of the time, try to burst with Tiger stance if the enemies get close, and heal off of minions with turtle. Avoid ganks, Wriggle's Lantern helps.
-If you push a lane all the way to the turrent, you may wanna step into the jungle, grab red or blue buff, and step back into your lane
So, early game and mid game is pretty easy. Don't be afraid to play a little agressively! :D
When you get into late game, you should start ganking, you can take out all squishies in 1~4 hits, tanks in 10+ hits because of your Madred's Bloodrazor. The Sheen you build into Trinity Force should help your damage output greatly, it gives your tiger stance more burst. More damage = Better.
Turrents should also be no problem. You could even turrent dive. Make sure that your teammates are with you... This I can't stress far enough. 5 vs 1 is not favorable with any champion. 2 vs 1 should be the most you should do.
