THIS GUIDE IS ONLY FOR RIVEN SOLO Q RANKED SOLO TOP!!! It is not intended for bot or mid lane or jungle. In this guide i will show you how i play Riven NORMALLY, remember, normally. It all depends on the enemy team, like in all games ofc :D I will not include alot of pictures because i dont know how that works ;).

Pros:

Excellent top laner.
Get underestimated A LOT.
can be tank if needed to
good carry/tank
Not banned in ranked often

Cons:

Cant "hop" walls with abilities
no ranged abilities

REDS:

Im taking ArmPen reds for the extra dmg in lane that is needed if you play against a smart opponent who buys sustain.

YELLOWS:

Im taking arm yellows because that just gives me that extra tankiness i need. Good sustain against the normal ad/tank solo top opponent.

BLUES:

Im taking magicresist blues again for that slightly extra tankiness you need in teamfights.

QUINTS:

Again ArmPen quints for that extra dmg in lane. Very helpfull.

These masteries give me dmg and a bit of tankiness. Also it gives me cd reduction on my flash and teleport. All what an effective riven needs.

CLOTH&5HP POTS:

You can choose here between null magic mantle and cloth armor. You will usually take cloth because the enemy will probably be an AD and the hp pots really help for your sustain in lane, on your 1st trip b you shoul buy a wriggles and boots.

BETTER BOOTS:

You can choose here because between merctreads and ninjatabi. It all depends on the enemy team. more ap opponents = merctreads, more ad = ninja tabi.

FOZENMALLET:

This is AWESOME. AD, Health, AND A SLOW! It gives you good tankiness and dmg. Perfect for riven.

WARMOGS:

This item is pretty self explanatory.(It gives you tankiness if you didnt guess;) )

ATMAS:

This item with warmogs is just op, i like to call it ATMOGS XD. The dmg is amazing, nothing more to say.

YOUHMOOS GHOSTBALDE:

This item is really good for pushing lanes because of its active. The ArmPen and cd reduction really help you out in teanfights.

BANSHEES VEIL:

This item is generally good for everyone. Health, mana, magicresist and a SPELLSHIELD. awesome.

BLOODTHIRSTER:

The lifesteal and the dmg are great. But you can change this item for anything you want, i dont usually get this far xD.

I know many people will say im a noob because i dont skill my "Q" skill 1st but this version is actually pretty good. The stun makes good burst dmg and the shield is really good for escapes. I just dont feel that the "Q" skill doesnt do enough burst dmg and you would have to dive them. Oh, and this is my #1 rule DONT DIVE. you never know where their jungler might be and the enemy will mmost likely not b if you just let them push a bit because they think... you know what? I will come to that later :)

You can use anything you like. But in my opinion i think flash is a MUST because its just epic. Teleport i think is a good choice for every top laner because you can port into a drag fight, tp into bot if theyre getting ganked and countergank etc.

You should just harras your opponent a bit. You can do this best when you you your "Q" skill to close distance, stun, "E" skill away. Its as simple as that. No big deal. But if you are getting dominated just last hit under the tower and wait for your jungler to gank. Dont forget your hp pots :). If your enemy is so low that you can kill them, play passive and let them farm and oush a bit, not too much. When they are coming close initiate with your "R" and "Q" skill. Then just burst them down.

REMEMBER:

Always ward the river brush and always let your opponent build up confidence if THEY are low on hp.
