Hey everyone! I'm Doubtfull and I have been playing Ivern since his release. The purpose of this guide is to give you everything you need to get started on your first Ivern game! That includes the optimal build, early game pathing, how to teamfight, and more!

If you have any questions or are interested in joining the #1 Jungle Learning Community join my discord Jungle Theory.
[Q] Rootcaller
Fire a slow moving projectile that roots the target. Once rooted you can press Q again or auto attack the target and you'll be pulled towards them. Be careful of this, as it might not always be want you want.

If you can, land your E slow or auto attack with red buff before trying to land the Q. If you're playing in an elo where people dodge skill shots, shoot this slightly behind the target as that is how most people try to dodge.

[W] Brushmaker
Create a bush that will briefly give you vision of the target area. Use this to avoid ever face checking. You can also use this to protect a ward from being spotted by a control ward (this is particularly useful in baron or dragon pit).

While in a brush your autos also do increased damage. Make sure to take advantage of this, as it is actually a lot of damage. Especially in the early game.

[E] Triggerseed
Shield a target ally or Daisy for 2 seconds. At the end of the shield deal magic damage and slow nearby enemies.

This is your bread and butter ability. Make sure you are shielding your carries more or less off cooldown in team fights. Consider setting a hotkey to self cast this ability. I personally use "T".

[R] Daisy!
Summon Daisy.

When daisy is summoned she gains a burst of movement speed. Use this to lead with her in ganks and shield her to slow your targets.

You can also use daisy to check bushes and baron/dragon. She has a very low CD which starts going down the moment she is summoned. In the late game she has effectively a 5 second cool down if she survives the full duration.
There are technically a few clears you can do on Ivern, but there is one that stands above all the others and I recommend doing it every game.

Mark Murk Wolves > Mark Blue > Mark Gromp > Smite Red > Mark Raptors > Take Blue Side Camps > Take Raptors > Smite Scuttle

When you are picking up your blue side camps you can look to gank if it looks free, but you might lose your raptors.

If you have lane priority you can invade some junglers at their blue while you wait for scuttle crab to spawn.

On your first base you are looking to purchase Ionian Boots of Lucidity and preferably a Dark Seal.
Teamfighting on Ivern is simple in concept but can be difficult in execution.

  • Position as if you are the most important player on your team. You should be the last to die.
  • Use daisy to peel your carries, this might require a little bit of micro to make sure she is on the right target.
  • Shield your carries on CD when they are in danger.
  • Try to weave in W empowered autos, but not at the cost of putting you in a dangerous position if you can help it.

Putting all of this together takes a little bit of practice, but when mastered Ivern is a fantastic team fighter that offers value to just about any team comp.
If you've read this far into the guide you should have everything you need to get started on your Ivern journey. However, I'm a firm believer that education is a life long pursuit.

Here are a few other places you can go to learn even more:

Twitch.tv/JamicanBanana.

A Challenger Ivern One Trick's stream.
Watching a master is one of my favorite ways to learn, and you won't find a better Ivern to watch than Jamican Banana.
