Items
In my opinion, Nashor's Tooth is a very underestimated item on Cho'Gath. It gives AP and CDR in a very early state of the game, which are both valuable attributes on Cho'Gath, plus an insane amount of attack speed, which synergises great with his Vorpal Spikes.
Rod of Ages
Rod of Ages is a very good item on Cho'Gath. It gives him health, sustain, AP and mana to spam his abilities even more. The reason why I prefer Nashor's Tooth over Rod of Ages are the (in my opinion) unnecessary extra mana on Rod of Ages - which makes me feel like spending a bunch of gold for something I don't really need - and the clear early game advantage I can gain with Nashor's Tooth, because it encourages Cho'Gath' passive and Vorpal Spikes.
Rylai's Crystal Scepter
A must-have on Cho'Gath. It gives him a huge amount of damage, health and a passive slowing enemies being hit by his abilities, including his Vorpal Spikes.
Frozen Heart
Generally a good item on Cho'Gath, especially against AD enemies and carries. It gives armour, extra CDR and a passive slowing the enemy's attack speed.
Banshee's Veil
Makes Cho'Gath even more tanky. A good item especially against AP enemies and casters.
