No one shuts down Janna more than Blitzcrank - one hook and you're dead. Auto harass him at early levels and when his hook is on cooldown. Mind your positioning so that you are always behind your minions when his hook is off-cooldown and try to mirror him with your melee minions acting as your line of symmetry. If he gets close, punish him with autos.

Alistar

Major

Skill matchup. Auto harass him heavily before he hits level 2, and help your ADC push the wave to get level 2 first by autoing higher-health minions when not zoning the enemy laners. Howling Gale (Q) and Monsoon (R) both interrupt his Headbutt (W) and therefore his initiation, but it is generally very hard to do consistently. Be wary of Flash-Pulverizes (Q). Unless you have perfect mechanics, Alistar wins this lane - just one combo and you've lost the trade, lane, or your life. A bad Alistar (one who cannot or does not combo) is very easy to spot and abuse with autos to discourage him from engaging at all and predict when he does decide to combo (most Alistars up until mid-Plat are bad)

Trundle

Major

Trundle will just make good trade after good trade until you and your laner are completely exhausted. It is difficult to peel him at early levels and Pillar of Ice (E) disrupts your ultimate's channeling.

Taric

Minor

Auto harass Taric a ton in lane. Use Howling Gale (Q) as Dazzle (E) is about to finish channeling to prevent its user from Flashing, dashing, or even just adjusting their position so that the stun doesn't hit. Save Monsoon (R) for after he uses Cosmic Radiance (R) in preparation of engaging to immediately disengage the fight and equal the playing fields with your channeled heal.

Braum

Tiny

Auto harass Braum all day, every day. Use Eye of the Storm (E) to shield the incoming damage from Winter's Bite (Q). Whenever he chooses to engage, you can easily stop him in his tracks with Howling Gale (Q) and Monsoon (R).

Leona

Tiny

Save Howling Gale (Q) to interrupt Leona's dash after hitting Zenith Blade (E). Disengage any successful initiation by her with Monsoon (R).

Sion

Tiny

Shield Roar of the Slayer (E)'s poke with Eye of the Storm (E). Interrupt Decimating Smash (Q) with Howling Gale (Q) or Monsoon (R) to prevent the knock-up. Monsoon (R) Sion away immediately after he lands Unstoppable Onslaught (R) to prevent him from following up.

Very annoying - Morgana's Dark Binding (Q) not only removes a decent chunk of Eye of the Storm (E), any follow up by her ADC will result in a highly unfavourable trade for you and your ADC. Her Black Shield (E) negates any of your peel and when used in combination with Soul Shackles (R) brings you a whole lot of pain (yes, that was a quote reference).

Bursts through Eye of the Storm (E) quite easily. In fact, he will literally burn through all of your shields and heals and still have enough damage to 1v5 your team.

Zyra

Disgusting champion. Nothing you can do but use Eye of the Storm (E) to shield her poke.

Sona

Hymn of Valor (Q) has a shorter cooldown than Eye of the Storm (E), which means that Sona will poke you until you're left twitching on the ground. Wait until after she uses Crescendo (R) to use Monsoon (R) in a scenario when she is the initiation.

Lulu

Major

Lulu not only offers better poke, but is the only support who can rival Janna's disengage.

Nami

Extreme

Nami simultaneously outpokes and outsustains Janna with Ebb and Flow (W) and offers three engage tools, two of which interrupt Monsoon (R).

Karma

Major

Zones you with poke to the point where you'll be farming under tower the entire game and provides the most difficult thing to peel: movement speed.

Thresh

Major

Sure, Death Sentence (Q) is scary, but that's about it. Try to avoid trading with him because Flay (E)'s passive chunks you for a bit. Mirror his positioning to make it more difficult for him to just walk up and engage on your ADC. If he cannot manage to blow up your ADC with his initial combo however, you generally win his all-ins post-6 (unless he took Ignite).
