There's a false cheater-recall I do - aka - use Q to push each wave until 350+ gold acquired, and reset before I run out of mana. I only miss 1-2 melee minions, and sit in lane without interacting at all against comps that want to all in, or with a support that's weak early.

Generally speaking, you want to auto after your ability for poke - it gives you range advantage, and your passive's damage is a good source of earning an hp advantage. You don't want to sit around trading autos, but there are times you throw out some autos. I auto a lot of games - just make sure you actually win these when autoing, and not just lose to stat checks. Be especially cautious against lethal tempo.

Since you have a second pot, you have better regen in the early levels. you also burst, too, so against certain champs, trading heavy isn't that bad. I don't like playing around with too much HP trading vs all-in ADC's though - against all-in the key is to stay healthy.

As for how to play - there's just too much to say, so the best I can say is to learn to read the opponent AND your sup. Getting kills is about outplaying. There are times where people are forced - they can't escape without walking that way, for example. And there are times when people telegraph their intentions, and there are times when you are basically mind controlling them, especially your sup. If something goes wrong, the first question I ask is what behavior did I do that led to that unfolding that way. Pathing inputs, auto attacks, and ability usage. Every time one of these happen, you might have a window to predict an opponent - or telegraph your poke. Oh and a big one is spacing.

post laning phase, you want to be where a fight is, as that's when your abilities are maxed out. Play it safe and look to save R for a good play - if there's no emergency you need R for, or there's no free guaranteed one-sided pick on an essential (not tank) target, R is wasted just for damage - you want to hit multiple people at a good timing.

R timing is this - it's a stun, so it is an effective shield, or its a damage guaranteer. it helps keep your team tanky in a heavy bruiser battle, it helps keep your burst champs alive, it guarantees combo damage, it prevents cc, and it disrupts abilities. These are what you want R for. Using R for these reasons means you're doing it right. Something like trying to keep a cho gath in place in the side lane with no other enemies around... that's not it. If R doesn't 1) guarantee a kill that WOUlDNT happen otherwise or 2) save an ally that would've died otherwise - then ask if it was even necessary. Obviously you want to see big plays with R, but most the time it's all about control - and either finding kills through guaranteed cc or finding kills by saving your allies and turning a play.

That being said, I don't mind using R to make a pick - but I don't always take that chance just because it's available.

as for double casts, I'm not the gal to ask on that one, I don't really pay much attention... one thing is, I try to sit at 2 stacks so that I can e qq, but also do one ability wihtout wasting double-cast. options are best at 2 stacks.
