Introduction

Shaco is the first character I ever bought. I originally bought it because it looked good, but soon came to realise that it is a excelent one on one pvp monster. It is great at pushing lanes and back dooring. Shaco is a a character that can excel at everything, short of surviving a 5 man gank. In this guide I will explain my personal setup of the character. Feel free to give me feedback about any suggestions you may have.

Runes

My personal play style is Speed/Damage. For Damage, you need your Armour Penetration. After trying a few different combinations of seals, I ended up choosing Armour Seals, the low level surviveability. I have tried Attack Speed Runes; they work but it really doesnt help with low levels. As Shaco only has one escape method available, I went with Cool Down Blues as my choice, taking decieve down to roughly 5 second cool down.

Pro's and Con's

The pro's include:
* Fast Movement - easy to move around the board,e.g switch lanes and outrun enemies.
* Fast Attack speed
* Good Damage
* Able to take out tanks that have Thornmail
* Great pushing and back dooring
* Good escape - being able to decieve over bushes and ledges.

The Con's Include:
* Squishy - Making you a target at the start of the game.
* Hard character to control at first.
* People complaing about you Kill stealing (even though I think doing more damage than them isnt a kill steal)
* New users of Shaco tend to feed a lot.

Masteries

My masteries are all based around Damage for faster farming and hero kills.

Laning Opitions

Laning opitions

Try laning with characters that use a stun, slow or supress. This way you can try to get early kills. This build is not the cheapest, so the more kills or assists the better off you will be in the long run.

Try to aviod laning with or against tanks. At the start most tanks dont do enough damage. Here are some choices to lane with and who to aviod:

Try to lane with :
* Jax
* Xin Zhao
* Katarina
* Udyr
* Sion- AP crit version
* Lux

Try to aviod :
* Galio
* Rammus
* Alistar
* Amumu
* Malphite
* Nunu

I do realise that a couple of the tanks have slow effects, but they dont have the damage to make up for it. I also realise that they can with alternate builds.

Skills and their use's

Skills and their use's

Backstab - Shaco deals 20% bonus damage when striking a unit from behind.
(well I dont think I need to say how to use this to your advantage)

Deceive - Shaco stealths himself instantly and teleports to target location. His next attack is guaranteed to critically strike.
Shaco instantly stealths for 3.5 seconds, and teleports to target nearby location. If he attacks while stealthed, the attack is guaranteed to crit for 40/60/80/100/120% bonus physical damage.
mana Cost 90/80/70/60/50
Range25000
( This is good in a few ways. It's good for getting an easy crit in the early stages. In late game this is your escape method and can be used as a personal flash. It can also hide the way you are moving to evade enemies and can also be used to get over ledges and bushes.)

Jack In The Box - Shaco creates an animated Jack-in-the-Box at target location, which will wait, stealthed, to Fear nearby units and attack them when some come nearby.
Shaco creates a Jack in the Box at the target location. It will Stealth after 2 seconds, and pop out when an enemy comes near, fearing nearby enemies for 0.5/0.75/1/1.25/1.5 seconds and attacking them.

Its attacks deal 35/55/75/95/115 (+0.25) magic damage and it lasts for 90 seconds while stealthed or 5 seconds while firing.
mana Cost 50/55/60/65/70
Range400
( early game is great for damage -"explained more in game play style". In the late game it can be used in ganks escaping to fear an enemy, as a personal ward for 90 secs or simple places on the map as a easy teleport target.)

Two-Shiv Poison - Shaco's Shivs passively poison targets on hit, slowing them and applying a miss chance to minions. He can throw his Shivs to deal damage and poison the target.
Passive: Shaco's attacks poison his target, reducing their movement speed. If the target is a minion, it reduces their chance to hit by 20/22.5/25/27.5/30% for 2 seconds.

Active: Deals 40/80/120/160/200 (+) (+1) magic damage to target enemy, and poisons them for 3 seconds. Upon activating this ability the passive is removed until Two-Shiv Poison becomes available again.
mana Cost 50/55/60/65/70
Range625
( This skill is used to slow a running enemy, to make sure they do not escape and the damage will increase as yours does)

Hallucinate - Shaco creates an illusion of himself near him, which can attack nearby enemies. (Deals half damage to turrets.) Upon death, it explodes, dealing damage to nearby enemies.
Shaco creates an illusion of himself nearby, which deals 75% of Shaco's damage and receives 150/150/150% increased damage. (Deals half damage to turrets.) On death, the illusion deals 300/450/600 (+1) magic damage to nearby enemies.

Lasts up to 18 seconds.
mana Cost 100/100/100 Mana
Range500
(This really is your bread and butter. It can be used two ways - 1. is as a destraction you can decieve 1 way and send the clone the other way.
2. The clone also gets all on hit effects that you do e.g madreds bloodrazor so you and your clone will be getting the 4% hp damage on top of respective damages. With all your speed you and your clone will attack aproxinmity 5 times a second and be able to take down a 5000 hp tank in roughly 3-4 second .)

Game play style

Game play style

Be aware that this is my personal playing style:

Early Game :
Use the boxes to fear the enemy in the bushes and try to be with a character that can stun or keep them in place, so you can take full adventage of the damage that the boxes can do. More times then not you can get first blood. The 400 gold really helps. When you get decieve and two shiv poison you should keep harassing the enemies in your lane until you can decive and get the kill. Even if you cant always try to get the assist you will really need the gold.

Mid Game :
By about the 10-15 min mark you should have emblem or valour madreds razor and boots of mobility which means you can jungle, get buffs and help the team out with getting the dragon. Using the boxes for wards and ganks to stop enemies from running you will be trying to gank unsuspecting enemies. Using deceive to get close and using your clone to help you get the kill you need to hit people hard and fast.

Late to End Game
You should have all your speed items and madreds bloodrazor. You can take anyone solo, sometimes even 2 people at a time. As long as they cant stun you, use decieve to get close and use hallucinate while stealthed so they cant pick you easy. That and the slow works wonders. When your not able to gank, start to push the lanes, take some towers if any are left to get. Victory is yours :)

Items

I personally start out with extra damage due to the long sword, for easier mob kills and easier harassing of enemy heroes. I try not to teleport home until I have enough gold to get Madreds Razor and Boots of Speed. Then I will keep harassing and going for the ganks to bring up my gold pool, so I can get Emblem of Valour. From there, you can usually go farm the jungles, while looking for ganks. When I go back again, I will try to get Boots of Mobility and Zeal for pure movements speed, crit rate and attack speed. Then I will upgrade to Phantom Dancer, and if I've got enough gold I will get another Zeal or Phantom Dancer. From here, you can solo most characters, until you have got enough to get Madreds Bloodrazor. Now you can solo any character. Then I go finish off Starks Fervour, and get Phage, and finally upgrade to Trinity Force. With that setup you can accomplish anything, including soloing Barron.

Summary

This is my personal build that I have accomplished great game stat's on. Try it out and see for yourself. This is the first guide I've ever made so it may be edited if my build changes at all. Feel free to comment.
