Hey, and welcome to my Shen, There's a fire on my Cape! Build. I've seen a lot Shen Builds, with bad information. And that gave me a big inspiration, to make my own Shen Build, which will include important subjects, such as: How to play him, what you should do in different situations and much, much more. So i hope, you will enjoy this Build/Guide. I will try to add as much usefull informations as i can. If you think, that i could add something else, please let me know. So that i can give you a reply. Or even make space, in my Shen Build, for the subject, that you think is missing.
It have been a great pleasure, to join the community. After 2 long years on Leaguecraft.com. The reason that i joined the community, is because of the helpfull Players/Veterans/Admins. Here's an example. My first Thread was about missing items in the Database, and as i came back, from the kitchen, (I was opening my coke bottle) like 2 minutes after making the Thread, someone had already replied to it. So, i opened the Thread, and saw a huge list, which contained all the answers i needed. And that shocking fast reply, made me join MOBAfire.com. I've made 2 other Builds: Teemo, And his Blinding Darts And
Master Yi, The Crunchy Way. Which you can find under my Profile. Again, Thank you MOBAfire.
-Pros and Cons
There exists an ancient order originating in the Ionian Isles dedicated to the preservation of balance. Order, chaos, light, darkness -- all things must exist in perfect harmony, for such is the way of the universe. This order is known as the Kinkou and it employs a triumvirate of shadow warriors to uphold its causes in the world. Shen is one of these shadow warriors, entrusted with the sacred duty of Watching the Stars - exercising judgment untainted by prejudice.
Born to a clan whose members have decorated the ranks of the Kinkou for generations, Shen was trained his entire life to become the Eye of Twilight, and thereupon to dispassionately determine what must be done in the interests of equilibrium. As his final trial to ascend to this position, he was made to attend the Takanu, a ceremony in which his father was tortured before his eyes to test his resolve. Any reaction whatsoever would have resulted in his immediate disqualification, but he never averted his gaze and never blinked, not once. As the Eye of Twilight, Shen must make decisions which would buckle the wills of ordinary men, removing all emotion from the equation. He now works with his fellows Akali and Kennen to enforce the balance of Valoran. This hallowed pursuit has unsurprisingly led the triumvirate to the Fields of Justice.
"The Eye of Twilight sees not the despair of its victims, only the elegance of equilibrium."

I have chosen the items, that you need to be a succesfully Tank. Which also will make you deal huge amount of Damage. My suggestion is that, you follow this Item build. Since, these great items will give you all what Shen needs, to take down all kind of champions.
I would definitely start out with Doran's Shield and a Health Potion . This item cannot be upgraded. However, it gives you really nice stats at lvl 1. Such as Health, Health Regen and even Armor and will make you able, to stay longer in your lane. If you're playing to aggresive, the first 1-2 levels, you always got a Health Potion To keep your health up, so that you won't have to Recall. On first return, you should get Boots of Swiftness. The reason that i chose these, is because Shen needs all the Movement Speed he can get, to catch up with his, opponents. So i suggest getting either Boots of Swiftness or getting Mercury's Treads which is very nice tanking boots, that works great on all champions. Second return i would either get Giant's Belt or Chain Vest, depending on your gold. Giant's Belt is first priority, but if you can't afford it, i suggest you go with Chain Vest, and then get Giant's Belt asap. I would not go back and get Giant's Belt, if you're doing good with Chain Vest. Just wait til you got enough gold for Sunfire Cape. Sunfire Cape Is a legendary item for Shen and i would never go without it. You can roast your enemies just by standing beside them. But be aware, when you wanna bring down enemy turrets. If there's an enemy champion standin beside you, Sunfire Cape Will make you take aggro, if it hits the enemy champion. and that can be very dangerous early game. To deal more damage, to your enemies you should get Thornmail. This item will give great Damage, to enemies that hits you. Plus, who doesn't like 100 Armor as a tank? And especially a great tank as Shen. The title of the Build/Guide, is not for fun. Now to the Guardian Angel Is a great tank item, which works perfectly on Shen. However, it has a long Cooldown. You can use the passive to escape very quick, and especially as Shen. If you got Flash, which i recommend as Shen, you can just plan where you wanna die, like close to a thin wall, then try to make it to that wall, and then when you respawn, with the passive, you simply just Flash over it and use, your Shadow Dash to get away. it is very simple actually. And then of course for the Armor and Magic resist, which is great on Shen. Sunfire Cape, Thornmail and Guardian Angel, will make your enemies flee as soon as they see you coming. And if your enemies, don't wanna hit you, and you feel like Thornmail Was a bad choise, you just taunt them, with Shadow Dash. Trust me, they will die within seconds. Now you should have a huge amount of Health, and Armor. But, that won't stop the mages, from hitting right through that armor of yours. Therefore i recommend getting Force of Nature Which is god of the Magic Resist Items, and works very well with Shen this will certainly help you a lot. as the last item, i would get Randuin's Omen. it will give a little of everything, that Shen needs. So with this great Core Item Build, you should be able to Stay alive in Team battles, and make a great Damage output.
I see a lot of People, getting Frozen Mallet. And i guess, their taken it because of the slow, which indeed is very important for Shen. However, Randuin's Omen Is much better for for this purpose. It will give you a lot of nice stats and slow any enemy that hits you + you can Active it, so everyone around you will get this Movement slow effect. So i would definitely get Randuin's Omen instead of Frozen Mallet.
Leviathan Is a great Snowball item, but i guess all Snowball items are great, if you're in to that kind of items. I personally dont like these, since they will change my play style a lot. i wouldn't be able to fill my purpose, as a tank. Since i would be worried about losing stats.
Well the name Ninja Tabi suits well for this Ninja. Ninja Tabi are tanking boots, which you could get, if you feel like you got enough movement speed with Force of Nature and Boots of Swiftness, i would also recommend thinking about getting Mercury's Treads.
I feel like Warmog's Armor Is a very overrated Item. And it's really not that big of a deal. It gives you a bunch of Health, Wow?, what's the big deal. Every tanking item out there is better than Warmog's Armor. However, it is a decent item on 2 Champions: Dr. Mundo, Mordekaiser and Vladimir (Tanking version) Because, they use their Health, as mana when they Cast their abilities, so Warmog's Armor Could be bought as Dr. Mundo, Mordekaiser Or Vladimir. But, only on these champions. And i would never, and i said never, get it as Shen.
I see a lot of people getting Banshee's Veil, which i wouldn't recommend. It has a decent passive, which will Block an enemy ability every 30 seconds. However, it gives Mana, which isn't needed as Shen as he uses Energy and not Mana. So, if you don't like an item from my core, and you decide you are going with Banshee's Veil instead, i would highly recommend getting one of the Items from the "Optional Items" Section above.
Here's the stat boosts that you get if you spec into all of the stat boosts in each of the different trees.

So, thats the reason i took the different masteries, for differen't builds. And getting the right masteries for my Summoner spells and stuff.
I choose some good Tanking Runes, for Shen. As they will give him a big boost Early Game, and he needs, all the extra stats, he can get. thats why i picked: Greater Mark of Armorx9, Greater Seal of Magic Resistx9, Greater Glyph of Magic Resistx9 And Greater Quintessence of Healthx3.
You should be able, to figure out, why i choose these Runes. If not, you will always be welcome to leave a comment, and i shall answer it as quickly as possible. I didn't write informations for each rune, because i guess you can figure it out yourselves.
This section, will contain important subjects, such as: Early Game, Mid Game, Late Game, Skills Usaga, Tips and Tricks.
Early Game Level 1-6.
Shen Is a very strong Early Game Champion, he can basicly harass his opponents in level 1, by using Vorpal Blade. So, what you wanna do is, farming minions, and get as many last hits as possible, and then use Vorpal Blade whenever an enemy champion approaches. and if, the enemy champion gets to close, you always got your significantly good Ki Strike To scare them away, so that you will be the lane dominant. You should get Doran's Shield as your first item, playing as Shen this will make you last longer in your lane. And if you screw up, you always got a Health Potion At your side. When you've earned 1000 gold, you should consider going back and get Boots of Swiftness. However, if you're doing good in your lane, i would probaly just wait a bit, before going back. If you can afford Sunfire Cape in Early Game (depending on Minion kills, Champion Kills and Assist) would be really nice, because it would help you a lot with your farming.
Mid Game Level 6-12.
At level 6 you get your ultimate, Stand United, which is really good, for the benefits of you, and your team. You should always try to look at the map, and watch out for your teammates Health. So be ready to jump in, in every situation, and help your team. Get Thornmail As fast as possible, it will really help your Armor, and damage out. Thornmail+ Sunfire Cape=Beastly combination, as Shen. And you know what? For even better Beastly Armor and Magic Resist, you should get Guardian Angel. With the combination of Boots of Swiftness, Sunfire Cape and Guardian Angel you should be able, to dominate, everyone in team battles Mid Game. If the team battles, haven't started out yet, you will just be the best Minion Farmer in the game. so no worries, your time will come.
Late Game Level 12-18.
At this time, you cannot be killed, by anyone, (Atleast not 1v1) no matter how feeded they are. If you got all the Items in the Core Build, all your needs should be covered, a Bunch of health, Armor, Magic Resist, Great Damage output and Movement Speed. that is basicly all Shen needs, to be a succesfully tank. So now you should just, be pushing enemy turrets, and try to win the Game. In my opinion, Shen shines through the whole game. Early, Mid and Late Game. That's what makes him one of the best, and funniest champions to play. else, there is not much to say, other than. GO GET THEM TIGER!
Makes a perfect team, since Shen can harass, while getting those big and low cooldown Astral Blessing, from Soraka. Btw, Soraka works great, with all champions.
The nice thing about Janna is her supporting abillities. Eye Of The Storm can be really good, if Janna has loads of Ability Power, you will almost be unbeatable. And then there's Howling Gale which will throw your enemies up in the air, which gives Shen, a perfect opportunity to Shadow Dash The opponents, and shut them down. Janna's Ultimate
Monsoon ain't bad either. So she is a really good Laning partner.
Nunu Is a great laning partner for Shen. They can take out every Champion, with this combination: -> -> -> (By Nunu)-> . And if the enemy survives that combo, you can just use Ignite To finish him off.
ATTENTION! This, is just some of the Champions, i like laning with. I bet there's many other good laning opportunities, as Shen I bet you get the picture :)
Shen's Shadow Dash can bring enemies like: Teemo, Twitch Evelynn And Shaco Out of stealth. Tips about this Trick is right Below.
Teemo: This champions passive ability is called Camouflage, which will make Teemo Stealthed.
Teemo is very easy to reveal, since he can't move while in stealth. So you always know, where you wanna Shadow Dash.
Twitch: This champions Q abillity is called Ambush Which will make Twitch Stealthed.
Twitch Can be hard to reveal, since he can move while being stealted, but if you got the skills, and you see him, go into stealth, and know where he is headed, it will be no problem. It's also nice to use Shadow Dash if you are chasing him, and he decides to Ambush. Cause then you can just reveal him, right away.
Evelynn: This champions W abillity is called Shadow Walk Which will make Evelynn Stealthed.
Evelynn Can be hard to reveal, since she can move while being stealted, but if you got the skills, and you see her, go into stealth, and know where she is headed, it will be no problem. It's also nice to use Shadow Dash if you are chasing her, and she decides to Shadow Walk. Cause then you can just reveal her, right away.
Shaco: This champions Q abillity is called Deceive Which will make Shaco Stealthed.
Shaco is very hard to reveal, while stealted. Because when he uses Deceive he teleports to the curse of his mouse, while getting stealted. An experienced Shaco player, is impossible to reveal, since he can teleport in any direction.
Another good Trick with Shen is to use his abillities, to escape Ganks or if you're about to die.
Shadow Dash Can be used, to more than just taunting. If you're in trouble, you can simply use it, for the same advantage as Flash. You can jump over thin walls, and then use Ghost to escape ganks, or if you need to catch up with someone.
For this purpose, you could also use Shen's ultimate, Stand United. Same thing as Twisted Fate's Ultimate, you can use it to escape, but the great thing about Shen is that he is a tank. So, there's no chance getting killed while using Stand United.
ATTENTION! Make sure to pop Feint before using this method.
Shen Does not need any real Skill Usaga, since he only has 1 damagin ability. Other than spamming Vorpal Blade And Taunt . However, if you got Ignite i would recommend popping it, if you're against healing champions, like: Soraka or Sona to reduce, their healing by 50% While ganking their ***es. This will help you a lot.
That's all i got for now, i hope you enjoyed it. And i would appreciate if you could leave a comment, saying why you rated or downvoted me. I would also like Feedbacks, to answer all your questions about Shen. Thanks.
