SEASON 10 SONA GUIDE
Sona Guide:

Introduction

Hello,Im a plat support main and i mainly main sona and i wanna point out some tips for you to learn !

Abilities
B R E A K D O W N

PASSIVE
Power Chord: Sona’s passive that empowers her next basic attack after casting 3 abilities (ultimate included). This underestimated powerhouse passive makes a great debuffer alongside being a great buffer. If Hymn of Valor is used as Sona’s third ability, Power Chord deals 40% bonus damage. If Aria of Perseverance is used as Sona’s third ability, Power Chord exhausts an enemy champion, making them deal at least 25% less damage over 3 seconds. If Song of Celerity is used as sona’s third ability, Power Chord slows an enemy champion by at least 40% for 2 seconds. As full support build Sona, your priority should be using Aria of Perseverance’s Power Chord. This functions as a mini Exhaust and can really disable an enemy carry from doing heavy damage to Sona or her team (especially adc). Otherwise, use the Song of Celerity Power Chord to significantly slow escaping enemies or provide peeling for your adc (attack damage carry).

ABILITY
Hymn of Valor: Sona’s main damage ability that also empowers an ally’s next basic attack. Usually maxed first to allow Sona to constantly buff her team’s damage during a lane trade or mid-game teamfight.

ABILITY
Aria of Perseverance: Sona’s only healing and shielding ability. This ability is primarily used for it’s team shield as it targets the whole ally team, whereas the heal only targets 1 lowest HP ally.

ABILITY
Song of Celerity: A whole team speed buff that scales decently off of high AP. Max this last as the difference from level 1 to 5 is only 4% speed.

ULTIMATE
Crescendo: A game changing ultimate that is best used to start team fights or disengage the enemy from starting one, depending on the situation. Also useful for catching up to enemies from long ranges, resulting in kills or Flash burns. This ability stuns and provides massive cool down reduction for Sona’s Hymn of Valor, Aria of Perseverance, and Song of Celerity.

Items
C O R E

CORE
Shard of True Ice: Key poke-enchanter starting item. This item is the third evolution of Spellthief's Edge. Make sure to poke consistently in lane to evolve Spellthief's Edge and get a gold lead on the enemy support.

CORE
Boots of Mobility: Allows you to zoom around the map and works well with Sona's Song of Celerity. Also allows you to roam and pressure other lanes if your lane is winning. This build allows you to have 45% (max) cool down reduction, so Ionian Boots of Lucidity aren't necessary.

CORE
Athene's Unholy Grail: After damaging enemies with your abilities, this item allows you to heal allies with a Summon Aery Song of Celerity or Summon Aery Hymn of Valor. Also increases healing from Aria of Perseverance.

CORE
Ardent Censer: Not as strong as it used to be, but still a necessary item for almost every team composition. This item procs on Summon Aery and Redemption, making it a key party buff for late game teamfighting.

CORE
Redemption: This item is a key teamfighting item for most enchanters. It has a whopping 3x scaling on heal and shield power bonuses, making Ardent Censer, Mikael's Crucible, and Revitalize especially powerful paired with it. With Sona’s late game power, you can heal full health bars for your party with this item and Aria of Perseverance with Athene's Unholy Grail stacks.

Items

OPTIONAL
Mercury's Treads: Strong boots choice against AP (Ability Power) dominated teams, especially champions such as Neeko, Lux, Morgana.

OPTIONAL
Ninja Tabi: Strong boots choice against AD (Attack Damage) dominated teams.

OPTIONAL
Banshee's Veil: Works well against AP dominated compositions or AP assassins that are targeting you. Ex. Evelynn, Nidalee, Fizz.

OPTIONAL
Zhonya's Hourglass: Almost always the better choice over Banshee's Veil, one reason being that you can skip your Redemption wind-up with this item and still receive the heal. Works especially well for AD assassins who dive you. Do you not use too early as the key is to get the enemy AD to waste crucial skills on you.

OPTIONAL
Rabadon's Deathcap: Best as a last item. Raw AP does wonders for your Aria of Perseverance healing and shielding and also Song of Celerity’s movement speed. Also amps the AP from Ardent Censer and Shard of True Ice, making it fit well as a final item.

OPTIONAL
Mejai's Soulstealer: Rare opportunity item that works wonders when you are ahead. If scared of commitment, get Dark Seal instead.

OPTIONAL
Morellonomicon: Rare opportunity item that works well in negating the enemy’s team healing. Only get this item if your AP mage is not buying it, otherwise it’s a waste.

OPTIONAL
Mikael's Crucible: Situational item that is best used against CC heavy compositions to dispell CC off of your carries. Example: Effective against Morgana, Lux, Neeko.
