Not Updated For Current Season
This guide has not yet been updated for the current season. Please keep this in mind while reading. You can see the most recently updated guides on the browse guides page
Zilean is one of the easiest champs against Sivir. He tends to spam his clock bombs, which you can absorb with Spell Shield to get extra mana. If your E isn't up, beware his stun bomb. Depending on who his ADC is, this can be a hard lane or an easy one, since he levels them faster than you.
Miss Fortune
The problem with Miss Fortune is that you can't block Make It Rain or Bullet Time with Spell Shield, so she can get a lot of extra damage on you. Play safe and try to kite her abilities with your passive.
Jhin
If you're playing against an ability focused Jhin, spamming his Q and W and E on you, you'll be okay, if you save your Spell Shield for his W snare. But if he goes full auto-attacks, you're toast, because you can't spell shield them, and you have no CC to lock him down with. Remember that you can spellshield ONE of his ult attacks, so save it for the fourth shot if you can. Going in on him when he's vulnerable is your best bet at killing him. Don't let him destroy you from afar.
Caitlyn
Although Caitlyn completely outranges Sivir in terms of autoattacks and her Q, you can absorb every ability she has with your E, including her ult. If you need extra mana, simply Spell Shield and step on one of her traps, but if she's throwing lots of Qs at you, don't waste your shield on a trap. You can play her game by poking with your Q, but it does eat your mana.
Tristana
Similarly to Zilean, Tristana's bombs can be easily spell shielded. However, Tristana can be hard to pin down since you have no CC, and Tristana has great engage and disengage with her W and R.
Draven
You can't spell shield Draven's Spinning Axes, despite how it may look. However, you can spell shield his Stand Aside and Whirling Death. Just remember that like Sivir's Boomerang Blade, his ult comes back, and your cooldown isn't low enough to spell shield it twice.
Sivir
You can each spellshield each other's Boomerang Blades, just keep an eye on it when it comes back, since you can't shield both passes of the blade. If your opponent isn't good at Spell Shielding, you'll be okay.
Corki
Pretty easy lane. You can Spell Shield most of his abilities, and his autoattacks are mediocre in damage.
Sona
Sona can chunk you hard, but you can spellshield her Q, and her only cc is her ult. If she tries to E to help her carry escape, your ult can help you catch up.
Quinn
Personally I hate laning against Quinn because her blind has no cast time and it's hard to spell shield it in time. However, if you can press E in time, she's not that hard to kill. Just be aware that after lvl 6, she can get back to lane MUCH faster than you can, so avoid recalling too much, or you'll lose CS to her.
Braum
Braum can't do anything to you, as you can Spell Shield his Q and ult, but he will protect his ADC extremely carefully. Just farm up for a while and build Lord Dominiks early to cut him down so you can get to his carry.
Alistar
You can Spell Shield all of his CC. Just be aware he can Headbutt you away if you try to engage with your ult.
Ashe
A fairly easy lane, but try not to let her get her Q on you, since you can't spell shield it. Be aware of when her ult is up, because she can fire it in an instant and freeze you in place.
Blitzcrank
Oh geez, Blitzcrank. You can spell shield his hooks and knock ups, but if he manages to pull you in, you're probably dead unless you have Flash or ult ready.
Master Yi
With luck you'll never see Yi bot lane, but he does jungle a lot in low elo, and you have no CC to pin him down with. Spell shield when he ganks to catch his Alpha Strike, then get your support to CC him and GTFO.
Anivia
Anivia support is a rare pick, but it's definitely viable. Spell shielding her stun is difficult due to the fact she can activate it instantly, and then follow up with her E to majorly chunk you. Her weakness is that she's very mana hungry, so let her exhaust her mana, then go in on her.
Brand
Ew, Brand support. You can spell shield his stuff, but the problem is he combos so much, you can't possibly shield them all, and you have no dash or blink to avoid his attacks. Shield what you can, don't group next to your support and try to poke him down to useless.
Bard
His stuns hurt, so try to avoid staying near allies or walls, and spell shield what you have to. He does have to roam a lot to get his chimes, so engage on his adc when he's gone.
Ezreal
You can shield all his abilities. Just try to bait his blink before throwing your Boomerang Blade, or he'll teleport out of the way and leave you with ~90 wasted mana.
Ivern
Never actually played against an Ivern support, but you can spell shield his root. He's pretty squishy if you just go in on him, but if you let him sit in the back line shielding and making bushes, you'll have a harder time.
Graves
Graves adc isn't something you see much anymore, but you can shield his Q, and you completely outrange him in terms of attacks. Try not to step in his blind zone, and be aware he has a defense-increasing dash ability.
Janna
You can shield her whirlwinds and her W, but she'll still shield her ADC and peel you off if you try to engage past lvl 6. She's very squishy, so try to poke her down to make her useless.
Jinx
She's immobile, you can shield all of her abilities and only gets really dangerous late game. Go in on her when she's using rockets, she'll have to waste precious time switching to minigun.
Karma
She's hard to engage on, and her empowered E is like a mini Sivir ult + shield. After she uses Mantra, she's weaker for a while.
Kayle
Kayle support is a rare thing, but her E will chunk you pretty hard, and she can make her carry instantly invulnerable, which can lead to a lost battle. Disengage if she ults herself or her carry.
Kindred
Who even plays Kindred adc? Harass her from afar, avoid her wolf, jump into her ult if she uses it and you'll be saved.
Kog'Maw
He's immobile, and although he can get damage on you, if you kite him, he's toasted. You can spell shield his ult as well.
Leona
You can shield her abilities, but if she hits you with them, you're in trouble. She's immobile, so kite her with your passive.
Lucian
Kind of nasty to play against. His passive allows for free extra damage against you, and you can't shield his ult, plus, his dash makes it hard to land things on him. Get your support to CC him if you can.
Lulu
I'd guess you can spell shield Whimsey, but you can't see it coming because it's point and click. She can also spam Glitterlance faster than your Spell Shield cooldown.
Lux
You can spell shield her abilities, but she can reactivate Lucent Singularity unpredictably to chunk you. Spell Shield her ult for extra tilt power.
Malphite
Harass him from afar and Spell Shield when he tries to steal your movement speed. Beware his ults.
Morgana
Yeah, you can Spell Shield her roots, but she can put out a new one about every 10 secs, which is faster than your shield cooldown, and getting rooted for 3 secs is often a death sentence. Her shield will be completely useless since you have no CC or magic damage.
Nami
Ah, the fish. You can spell shield everything she does, but she will tilt you by rescuing carries with her passive. Get some CC from your support to lock down the carry first.
Nidalee
The spears are easy to see coming, just sidestep. Her traps are free mana. Just beware, if you do get Hunted, she can chunk you badly by comboing in her cougar form.
Rammus
Rammus, the death sentence for late game ADCs. Once he gets Thornmail and lots of armor, you're gonna have a hard time killing him. Stay out of his Taunt range and poke him afar with your Q.
Soraka
You get a lot of free mana from her Starcalls onto you. Focus her first so she doesn't constantly refill her carry's health.
Thresh
Poke him from afar and spell shield his hooks. You can escape his box by spell shielding before going through the wall.
Twitch
Twitch is yucky. His invisibility makes him rough to play against. Make sure you and your support both get a Vision Ward to put down when he vanishes.
Varus
Honestly just spell shield everything he does and kite the heck out of him. Try not to let him get too many passive stacks on you.
Vayne
You can't spell shield her Q, her W, or her ult. She will be very hard on you. Poke her from afar and get your support to do the same, and ask for ganks.
Veigar
You don't see much Veigar support, but it's an easy lane. You can spell shield everything he does, including escaping his stun box.
Zyra
Zyra will get a lot of damage on you from all the plants she spawns. Try to step on as many bulbs as you can.
Are you tired of being Blitzcrank hooked? Morgana rooted? Ashe ulted? Would you like to be able to harass your opponents while simultaneously farming? Would you like to be able to have a teamfight changing ult that can provide super engage or disengage to any teamfight? Then Sivir is the ADC for you!
Hello, my name is EmeraldTechno. I'm an unranked league player who mains ADC and plays a lot of Sivir and Jhin. I will try to make this guide as in-depth as I can, so you can learn everything about how to play Sivir.
Sivir is a utility-based immobile ADC who is very strong late game but weak early game. She is very good against ability-based enemies due to Spell Shield and can catch enemies by surprise with On The Hunt. She has a great kit and can add something to almost any team.
Sivir has an awesome late game, especially in teamfights, with her Ricochet and her On The Hunt combo to bring her team to the fight and destroy them. She is a fairly safe champ to play in lane, as she can ult + Spell Shield to escape a gank or aggressive attack by the enemy laners, however without her ult, she has no escape. Despite having low auto-attack range, she can poke from afar by throwing her Boomerang Blade or bouncing Ricochet off minions.
Cons
+ Weak early game + Not the best passive + Hard to use + No CC whatsoever
Sivir has a lame early game, and has to farm for a while before getting powerful. Hence, she often gets bullied in lane by other ADCs with better early games, and can't do a lot to retaliate early because of the high mana cost of Boomerang Blade. Her passive, Fleet of Foot is useful for kiting, but no real use otherwise besides a slight speed boost if you throw your Boomerang Blade at a chasing enemy. She is difficult to learn to play, because her Spell Shield takes a long time to master, and she is very mana hungry without the extra mana from that. Additionally, she has no CC, which can make it hard to lock down targets, especially with a low-CC support like Sona or Soraka.
Masteries
Masteries
vs
This is a no-brainer, Sivir is not an AP champ.
vs
You could take Fresh Blood , but I pick Feast for the early game sustain. Sivir's early game is weak enough already.
Either of these is all right. Bounty Hunter is a safer option if you don't trust your support to protect you in lane.
Runes
Runes
Even though a lot of guides recommend Attack Speed runes on ADCs, I take Attack Damage instead. You don't really need the extra attack speed early game, because you'll be just farming, and once you hit level 6, On The Hunt will give Ricochet a passive Attack Speed buff anyway. Taking Attack Damage runes instead will make it easier to farm and poke your opponents.
Spells
Spells
+
Flash is definitely a necessity for most champions in the game, and Sivir is not an exception.
Heal is better than Barrier for bot lane because you can use it to save yourself or your support.
Ghost would only be viable on a map with no jungle walls.
Ignite you could take instead of Heal if you want to go for more damage, but I still recommend Heal because its utility usually outweighs the extra damage you could get from Ignite.
