Splash's 1.6kLP Challenger EUW Evelynn Guide (Updated for S13) [WORK IN PROGRESS]

By ItsSplash
Introduction & Credentials
About Me
My name is Splash. I've been a high elo (GrandMaster+) Evelynn OTP since her rework. Ending Season 11 1kLP Challenger & Peaking Rank 7 Season 13.

My SoloQ Peaks:
Season 10 - 700LP Challenger
Season 11 - 1k LP Challenger Finished
Season 12 - 1k LP Challenger
Season 13 - 1.6k LP Challenger -- RANK 7

I've also OTP'd Mordekaiser (top) to 1k LP and Akali (mid) to 950 LP.

All my accounts summed up have more than 3 million Evelynn points.

There are four main reasons that I'm making this guide:
1) To answer common questions on my stream
2) For increased stream publicity
3) To better other Evelynn players
4) To advertise my Discord Server.

This guide is a heavy WORK IN PROGRESS, do keep that in mind as you continue on reading through it.

Evelynn's Pros & Cons
PROS
+ A super fun & satisfying champ
+ Somewhat easy to pick up while having a high skill ceiling
+ Has a strong mid game and scales well into the late game
+ Doesn't fall off like other junglers once midgame is over
+ Has insane 1v9 carry potential if you are good enough
+ Literally invisible 24/7, it's like you're playing a Hitman game on summoners rift
+ Feast or famine playstyle

All in all Evelynn is a harcore 1v9 machine that can take over the games on her own even in Challenger elo. Even if you don't plan to main Evelynn she is one of the best AP pocketpicks you can have in your arsenal for Soloq Climbing.
CONS
- Can get punished very hard for mistakes
- Sometimes high elo games can be over in drafts if enemy team plays the game properly. (This doesn't really happen under challenger)
- Has weak early dueling making her prone to enemy invades
- If team has 2+ AP champions enemy can stack MR and make the game harder
- Very susceptible to CC although most CC champions can be played around by a good Evelynn
- First handful of games (~20ish) could be a struggle, but any champion is like that
- Feast or famine playstyle

Evelynn does have some cons but most of them are very high elo oriented (GM+) so for 99.9% of players they aren't all that important. All in all her pros vastly outweigh the cons.
Abilities

P - Demon Shade When Evelynn is not fighting she gains additional health regeneration. After level 6 she also gains camouflage. Evelynn passive's health regeneration allows her to stay healhty in the jungle during the early game. After level 6 it also unlocks Evelynn's camouflage completely shifting the way she plays the game, allowing her to be much more aggressive. In later stages of the game you need to utilize the passive well to go in and out of fights/teamfights.

Q - Hate Spike Single target skillshot that can be followed up by 3 AoE targeted skillshots. Evelynn's main ability that you will be using a million times per match. First part of the ability is a medium range skillshot that deals damage and applies 3 damage amplification orbs on the target. All of Evelynn's abilities & autoattacks can proc orbs. The second part allows her to recast the ability 3 times hitting enemies.

W - Allure A mark that charms or slows the enemy. Evelynn marks a champion or a monster. Proccing a fully charged curse charms the target. If a fully charged curse is procced on a monster it will also deal damage, if it's procced on a champion it will reduce target's Magic Resist. If the curse is not charged then the target will be slowed instead with no additional effects. Allure makes Evelynn's early ganks strong. In later stages of the game you won't be able to proc a fully charged Allure all that often so it'll mostly be used for slows and mind-games.

E - Whiplash Damaging ability that also gives movement speed Whiplash is a short-range point and click ability that deals single target damage and provides movement speed to Evelynn. When Demon Shade activates Whiplash gets empowered until it's used. Empowered whiplash grants additional damage, and instead of just hitting the target Evelynn also dashes to it. Ideally use this ability after Q to proc one of Q's dmg amp orbs.

R - Last Caress Massive AOE Damage and a getaway. Evelynn becomes untargetable and deals enormous amount of damage. She then blinks backwards after a small delay. Deals increased damage to enemies who are under 30% hp. Evelynn's ultimate also puts her passive on a 1.25s cd instead of the usual 4s allowing her to get in and out of fights easier. Use this to either finish targets off or get massive ults in a teamfight hitting multiple enemies.
Game Flow
EARLY TO MIDGAME

Early game is often Evelynn's worst part of the game and you will mostly be focused on surviving enemy invades, playing passively and farming up. Evelynn however has a very strong level 3 and level 4 gank & dive potential with her W, as long as the enemy jungler is pathing crossmap of you. So just make sure enemy jungler isn't in a prime position for a countergank as Evelynn sucks in 2v2s and 3v3s.

Once you hit level 6 is when Evelynn really comes online. Pretty much whenever you have your ult up you want to be looking for fights, invades, ganks, kills, objectives, etc.

However, don't overforce stuff and don't force fights where you are outnumbered by the enemy.

Once you use ur ult you want to wait for it to come off cooldown before you fight again. If you fight without your ult there's a high probability of you dying and losing Mejai's Soulstealer stacks. Dying even once as Evelynn can make her useless for the remainder of the game.

Instead, while you wait for your ultimate to come off cooldown farm jungle camps. You can still go for fights if you're very confident that they can't go south, but if there's a big chance of you losing Mejai stacks don't risk it.

MIDGAME TO LATEGAME

Midgame and lategame are a bit harder to explain. You still want to stick to having ult means making plays and not having ult means farming and playing it safe. At these points of the game you want to be looking for plays around your most fed player on the team. So if your sidelaners are fed you wanna play around them and roam with them. If your botlane is fed then you want to play with them through midlane.

Never force plays while outnumbered unless you are very confident they will work out. This is how games get thrown. Before you go on people think logically how they can respond to you jumping on them, and then play appropriately.

Get prio on the lane you want to play around and then move around the map with that laner, getting vision, map control, kills, etc.

If you're going for a pick on the sidelane with your sidelaner make sure you drop the blue trinket Farsight Alteration behind the enemy in order to spot enemy backup in case they predict your play.
Lv 1 Warding
You should always ward Stealth Ward at 1:11.

You always want to ward your own side of the map and you always want to ward crossmap of where you are starting level 1. So if you plan on starting botside and path towards top then you want to ward top side of the map.

This provides you safety against invades and also provides your midlaner some safety from enemy's level 2/3 ganks from that side of the map.

Against champions that have level 1 and level 2 wallhops ( Graves, Nidalee, Kindred) you should be warding your buffs. This is in case they decide to cheese you by going from their buff to yours.

If they don't have wallhops then you want to place the ward in the river. Make sure the ward you place is outside the pixel bush so enemy jungler gets spotted if they go for a mid gank from that side of the jungle.

This level 1 ward is super important and not many people know of it so make sure that you don't autopilot and forget about it.

I'll add pictures later to better explain the ward placement.
Pathing (simple)
Jungle is pretty simple when you start getting the hang of it. Esentially you are just farming jungle camps inbetween of punishing enemy mistakes. That means you must always be looking at lanes inbetween of jungle camps and never autopilot.

Always try to path towards lanes that have prio⁽¹⁾. If you don't know how to judge which lanes have prio then you can either start bot every game or, if you want to be on an advanced level, learn using an external site such as Lolalytics where you'd compare early-game winrates of certain matchups to decide which ones to path towards.

Evelynn is a fast clearing jungler so try to fully clear the jungle whenever it's possible.

Standard Full Clears:

Do: Red -> Golems -> Raptors -> Wolves -> Blue -> Gromp

or: Blue -> Gromp -> Wolves -> Raptors -> Red -> Golems

Make sure to deviate from the clear whenever you see an opportunity presenting itself on the map.

If no lanes have prio/strong early game champions, then path towards a lane with strong early game & good gank setup.
In this case you might need to do a 3, 4, or a 5 camp clear instead.

If starting blue buff I do: Blue -> Gromp -> Wolves -> Red -> Whatever is needed

If starting red buff I do: Red -> Raptors -> Gromp -> Whatever is needed

Clears differ from one game to another, and sometimes you might need to skip certain camps to avoid enemy invades⁽²⁾, but this is enough info for most ranks.

¹ - Priority (or in short prio) is a concept where one laner's champion has dominance over the enemy's and, due to that, is able to join fights and move around the map quicker than the opponent.

² - an Invade is when the enemy Jungler enters your jungle with the intent to steal camps or fight you.
Teamfights
Look to get big ults off, get good flanks off, or pick targets off before the fight even begins.

If you feel like you can't do anything in the teamfights, try just peeling your carries by using W on frontline and blowing them up with E and R.

When enemy is grouped up use your W on the enemy to let them know you are on one side of them then run around to the other side. Enemy won't expect you doing this and might leave their carries open to flanks.

After using your ultimate , your passive resets after 1.25s instead of the usual 4 seconds. So look to regain HP and re-enter the fight picking low HP targets off.
When to pick Evelynn
Evelynn is the best pick when she is the only AP champion on the team and when her teammates pick strong early game champions which Evelynn can use to start snowballing and which cover her weak early game.

So if your team is locking in AD early game powerhouses that have unconditional priority on lane, Evelynn will most likely have a good time.

That said, picking Evelynn every game and climbing by OTPing her is also viable so don't be afraid to pick her.

Also, I'd recommend dodging when there are 3 or more AP champs on your team. It's not necessary, it's just that playing against enemies who are stacking MR can be a pain.
Bans
Rengar & Kindred are staple bans. I ban Bel'Veth currently as the champ is broken.
Thank you
