Hello, and welcome to the best League of Legends build and strategy guide ever written. Today I'll be teaching you how to play the champion Jhin, the Virtuoso. This guide assumes you already have basic knowledge of Jhin and his gameplay, because I'm going to show you how to play not just any Jhin, but the majesty that is full Ability Power Jhin.

Your first question is probably something like, "Why would I want to play AP Jhin? Are you out of your mind? Did you get hit on the head with a Stat-Stick one too many times?" I'll leave those last two questions up to you, but I've compiled a short list of reasons to play AP Jhin:

1) Griefing
2) An alternative to actual suicide
3) Waiting forty minutes to pull off a trap combo

If any of those things sound fun, then AP Jhin is the pick for you!

Passive: Whisper

Jhin's passive is what sets him apart from the peasantry of League's marksmen, with their "2.50 attacks per second" and "Lethal Tempo". I would explain how Jhin can't gain attack speed aside from leveling up; how he converts any bonus attack speed and critical strike chance into more AD; how he can only fire four shots at a time, the fourth of which is a guaranteed super-crit that increases movement speed, before having to reload; how he automatically reloads after a certain amount of time out of combat, so it can sometimes be useful to use abilities in order to hold a fourth shot. I would explain all of that, if it meant anything. But this is AP Jhin, so it doesn't.

Q: Dancing Grenade

Dancing Grenade is always a useful ability to secure farm and poke in lane, but with AP Jhin it becomes your absolute staple. This is the only targeted ability you have that scales with AP, so you'll be relying on it for almost all of your poke and burst. Since every enemy killed by a Dancing Grenade increases the damage of the remaining bounces by 35%, killing minions with it—easy with enough AP—lets you chunk the enemy for unholy amounts of damage. In fights, throw your Q at the lowest-health enemy that's near a champion and watch them cry. Learn and max this first to stand a chance in lane.

W: Deadly Flourish

Deadly Flourish is the longest-range non-ultimate skillshot, but its use is generally more for utility than damage, even with AD Jhin. When you build AP, that last sliver of execute potential is pretty much out the window as well, so this move is for crowd control only. Land a W on enemies that have recently been hit by your team, indicated by a lotus icon next to them, to root them for up to 1.75 seconds at max rank. Besides keeping attackers off you and locking down enemies in fights, Deadly Flourish works with Jhin's E to create a dastardly combo. Learn and max this second to lower its cooldown.

E: Captive Audience

Captive Audience, better known as lotus mines or lotus traps, allows Jhin to place traps around the map. These are typically used for vision and to guard against attacks, as well as for some extra damage in teamfights when nobody can see them through all the other particle effects. The traps scale with AD, but they're also Jhin's highest AP scaling, at a whopping 100%—you can't get any better than that. This makes them your biggest source of damage, but that's a bit of an issue. Even with the slow, lotus traps are small enough that a player who notices them right away can almost always walk out before they explode. That's where Deadly Flourish comes back in. Walking into a trap's slow field tags enemies, allowing you to root them with your W. With enough points in W, the root will be long enough that there's virtually zero chance of escape if they're caught inside. Throw several lotus traps on the same spot, and a player rooted in the area will have a pretty hard time getting out alive. Learn and max this last—the base damage scaling isn't worth it, and you need the others more.

R: Curtain Call

AP Curtain Call is nothing special. There's certainly no 100-to-0 potential like with a fed AD Jhin. Stick to going for executes on fleeing enemies, and if you miss all four like a boosted ape, tell the LOLing enemies that they were just warning shots. Ideally, then they walk into a pile of traps and you hit them with a Deadly Flourish, dealing ten thousand damage.
