Updated items and added a second skill order (and optional Zombie Ward to runes). I fleshed out the assassin builds a bit more to better demonstrate how to build situationally. The relevant chapters of the guide also reflect these changes. Hope you guys find it helpful! :)

Hello Psi

As I am currently searching for a new AD jungler for my champion pool, I decided to give Nocturne a go again. It went okay I guess:

I am now really considering adding him to my champion pool. But what are your thoughts on the bruiser build? For me it worked great, but maybe the assassin build is still superior? Or does it depend on the team comps?

Have a nice day and thanks in advance.

I tend to favor the assassin build since I have a lot more experience with lethality items on Nocturne. I tend to perform well with that build unless the enemy team is really resilient against burst damage.

I would say give both builds a try for a handful of games and see how they feel, but there's nothing wrong with sticking with the bruiser build if you have more success with it. It tends to work better against comps that counter Nocturne so it should work okay in any game. Lethality is easier to counter but stronger in the right circumstances.

If you were able to carry a 30+ minute game without dying a lot it means you have decent enough fundamentals to figure out how to be effective without jumping into 5 people and dying or something, so if you keep playing him I'm sure you'll get the hang of the champion. I think Nocturne is really strong below Diamond so he's worth the time investment. :)

Updated matchups & synergies. Ask Rito for Kha'Zix nerfs. :/

Overhauled the cheatsheet & items section. I broke the build down into 3 main builds (Assassin, Diver and Bruiser) since this is roughly how I currently adjust my itemization. I did my best to make the build as readable as possible, but let me know if anything's unclear.

Also added Cheap Shot as an option to the cheatsheet & updated the runes section.

Hope you guys find the updates useful!

Climbed from silver 3 to gold 4 in 3 days onetricking Noc with this build. Winrate is still up, guess i can even reach platin since i clap everyone rn. But i pref chilling smite most of the games, because it makes it harder for the enemy to escape out of my e when he is not hit by duskblade

Chilling Smite is definitely good, it just depends on what type of enemies you're facing. If most of the enemies will try to run away from you, it's a good option. Nice job on the climb, keep it up! :)

Since someone had the valiant idea of getting all featured guides scouted (oof), here's my (attempt at a) review.
Review

Overall your guide is (of course) very good, hence the short review. I love the way it is written and I love the style.

Have a nice day & good luck finishing your guide :p

Thanks for the kind words. Some of the later gameplay chapters still need some images & gifs so hopefully the visuals will be more impressive in the future. :)

So Nocturne was my first love when I started league, I have an alt dedicated to him and have played him a fair bit, but I always want to get better. He's my go to jungler and recently my build has usually consisted of getting the jungle blade (Stalker or skirmisher depending on the enemy jungler) then straight into tiamat. Sometime after that I'll work towards my berserker's greaves then duskblade. After that I either finish hydra or get ghostblade or finish warrior enchant, the order usually varies. Then I finish off with deadman's. I know some of these items may not be optimal but that's why I want your input. Should I swap out ghostblade for PD? Deadman's for GA? I like the HP and little bit of initial extra damage from deadman's, the movement doesn't hurt either, but I do understand the merits of GA. The ghostblade is mostly just a habit from back when it had attack speed and there are likely better options, I just appreciate the lethality. As for the hydra, I know he has good clear with his passive but I really like the clear speed with the tiamat/hydra along with the lifesteal, AOE and a bit of extra burst into his initial rotation. The AOE is incredible when diving an adc with their support and it makes him SLIGHTLY more viable in teamfights. I know "if it works then do it" but I'd definitely like your own input.

That's a lot of items to go over so I'll try to keep it brief.

  • Stalker's Blade / Skirmisher's Sabre: Pick this based on the enemy team and not just the enemy jungler. Stalker's is good against teams with lots of ranged/squishy enemies that will try to kite you, but I usually get Skirmisher's in most games to make sure I can 1v1 as many people as possible.

  • Berserker's Greaves: These aren't bad, they just make you really squishy in team fights. If you can avoid team fights, you can get away with them.

  • Duskblade of Draktharr: IS REAL GOOD

  • Tiamat / Ravenous Hydra: These items aren't bad, I just find that they aren't worth delaying bigger power spikes like Duskblade. Your entire build gets delayed by 1325g when you buy Tiamat, so I generally don't recommend it on jg (it's good for lane though). Ravenous is a really expensive item but it's not bad once you finish it. I tend to get more value out of PD/Wits because they're cheap and make you really hard to kill, but if you're rich then Ravenous is a pretty decent item for the reasons you mentioned.

  • Youmuu's Ghostblade: I think this item is worse than other options on Nocturne currently. If I want another quick lethality item before building for team fights, I get Umbral Glaive instead since it's cheaper and I feel like the passive is more valuable than Ghostblade's active. I only build Ghostblade on champions that actually need the movement speed to reach their targets.

  • Dead Man's Plate: This item is fine, just know that you're losing a lot of damage by building it. I usually favor Phantom Dancer instead since the shield grants you up to 600 extra health and it's a damage item. Dead Man's is a decent option if you can get a lot of value out of the armor, and if your team has enough damage that you can fulfill a more frontliner-type role in fights. Randuin's Omen isn't bad either, since you can easily get in range to use the active and it cuts a lot of damage from crits.

Thanks for your comment. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask!

I'll try to break the habit for a few games and see how they go for me. I'm just so used to throwing the hydra active into my burst rotation that it will be weird to see it do nothing lol. But you never know until you try it.
