Build explanations -- (not a Guide)
I played it a lot, and everytime, in every way I played it, I was obliged to suffer the enemy firepower, and often on the first line. All the Cho'Gath's skills need a litlle exposure (except for rupture). I choosed the Tank orientation for Cho'gath following these deductions, it's the most comfortable and relevant way to play him based on a Solo-queue experience.
Cho'Gath have many advantages as a tank :
_ He's a natural hit bag (considering his ultimate)
_ He got's plenty of CC, bump, slow, silence.
_ He have a big 3d box (when full stacked), bothering the enemy targetting (when targetting mates).
But, Cho'gath have also some flaws :
_ Big mana comsumption, long recover
_ no resistance buff from skills
_ nothing scaling resistance
As a tank, Cho'gath role will be to engage, disturb, protect and offer enemy's to his mates, and doing this while surviving. To do that, Cho'gath needs :
_ Life No need to explain.
_ Resistances No need to explain too.
_ Cooldown reduction As a tank, your main role is to controle, you skills must be ready as often as possible.
_ Plenty of mana A high use of skills significates a high consumption of mana, this is the flaw of this build. I haven't found the items that can gives you mana and permit you too keep up with a good tanking. Then, it's a good thing to use teleport to refund your mana pool when needed in early-game.
NB1 : The Soulshroud is an item for a basic game (it's a readjustment item), but when the enemy team is oriented AD or AP, it's time to think about a thornmail or a quicksilver Sash. The doran's shield can be sold too, but most of the time, the game is already done at this time.
NB2 : This build is just a way to play Cho'Gath not a guide to play him correctly.
