Hi there, I've got a question that to veteran Vi players, might seem kind of dumb (but here it is anyways!): No Vi guide recommends or even considers recommending Iceborn Gauntlet as an alternative to Trinity Force.

My instinct is to pick up an Iceborn Gauntlet on Vi (especially against heavy AD teams), but clearly this is wrong - could you help explain to me why Trinity force is so much better?

Sorry for the late reply. You don't take IBG because it does its job very poorly compared to the other 2. Both Trinity and BC give HP and AD, which Vi scales off of very well. It gives a significant amount of armor, but since you will be building an armor item later, it is a bad idea to give up early damage for late game tankiness she will have anyway. When you compare the passives, Trinity gives a 200% sheen proc compared to the 100% from IBG, and the slow is made up for by the +20 base movespeed. BC gives more armor shred and the same 20 movespeed as well. The 500 mana given is way more than she needs. Vi doesn't have a massive pool, but it is enough, especially with the enhanced regen in the jungles. Finally, the AS from Trinity is extremely good on VI as it means her W is procced that much faster, for more damage and a quicker armor shred.

I like this, and gives me something to think about in my build.

Viya (Get it?), I'm a huge Vi player and have recently started making a build- your build is actually pretty similar to mine + we're around the same rank. I think this is an awesome build keep up the great work. Question though: Have you ever thought about taking one cdr quint? I included it in my build for the time being because it's so far proven to be pretty legit. With scaling cdr blues you hit the end game with an extra 10% crit which allows you to itemize a little differently and still have 40% in all. Just a suggestion. (I still play with 3 ad quints a lot, I might swap to cdr though- try it out). ANYWAYS: Nice build.

I would actually heavily recommend against a CDR quint, as the attack speed is a big part of making Vi's early clear good, and sacrificing the attack speed from the quint in exchange for so little CDR is, in my opinion, a waste. Its an interesting thought, but the AS or even an AD quint would be a better choice in this situation.

I really like this guide, been wanting to try Vi for awhile and this absolutely helped! Keep it up and updated :)

I see a lot Vi's go black cleaver after they finish trinity. I can't really tell if its good to build deadman's after trinity or black cleaver.

Black cleaver isn't bad, but if you build it you will be sacrificing some tankiness that allows Vi to dive in and still come out alive. The build I recommend here is most useful in team oriented-play, but soloq being the unknowable beast that it is, you may get 3 tanks or none. Therefore, I prefer the middle ground bruiser build there anyway, and tweak it slightly depending on how the game goes.
So tl;dr, BC can work, but is highly situational.
