Velkoz is actually a decent support (ofc he sux versus aggressive supports), specially with the spellthief thing. He has Q + E for CC, his scalings are **** but you can rush penetration anyway.

However, you deceivingly note him as useful versus tanky supports, when those are the ones his mostly bad against. He has a really limited amount of tools to deal with hard engage, and he is absolutely melted if you're the one caught out of position (I have played against 3 Velk supports in plat, we just focused them and they couldn't do jack but die).

Quint of gold are trash this season. You should take something like 3 Magic Pen or AP Quints, Magic Pen marks, armor and mres. 21/9/0 masteries. Start spellthief, rush Sighstone and stage 2 (Frostfang), then try to get Haunting Guise or Morello if you're really behind. You'll also need items that can protect your own *** (Rylai's ie) since you shouldn't be relying on your team to cover for you.

Good luck on your guide!

My AP velkoz mid build is entirely different, try some variation.

Doesnt have any real tankiness? so Sona, Soraka, Annie, Fiddlesticks, Zyra, Lulu, Janna, Zilean, Karma, and Nami arent real supports? news to me.

also, if a 2 second 70% slow and a knockup isnt CC, then what is?

So theres that.

Theres no reason not to take Velkoz mid.
But writing an entire guide n a champion that has 1 item different from AP mid Velkoz, is kind of pointless.
Also he doesnt actually have any real tankiness or CC so hes nowhere near as good as other support early.
So theres that.

As i very clearly stated in the introduction, there isnt any reason not to take Velkoz mid. I also pointed out that this build isnt for a pure support, but rather an anti-support that transitions into a late game APC. No need to be so sassy about it.

Gold Generation Runes are suboptimal right now. Why not going mid when building full AP? You need some supportive stuff like Sightstone and you rather shouldn't publish a guide for a new champion that early. Guess why there isn't the opportunity yet to make a guide for Vel'Koz, I mean a champion guide.
