INTRODUCTION
So I start off with Amplifying Tome, a single Health Potion and my ability point on Transfusion. This gives you 20 AP from the Amplifying Tome and if you start to run low on health in your lane you have a potion to save you if Transfusion can't.
After you get at least 1000 gold go back to base and get the Boots of Swiftness. That will give you a great speed boost.
Stay in your lane for as long as possible now. When you have to go back, get the Hextech Revolver, and if you can, start building Rabadon's Deathcap. The Hextech Revolver will give you an additional 20 AP and 20 Spell Vamp to what you already had with the Amplifying Tome.
Build Rabadon's Deathcap now as fast as possible. This is definitely one of the CORE items when building Vlad because the total Ability Power you get from it is amazing. +155 AP as well as a passively 30% increase in AP.
Next build Rylai's Crystal Scepter for its small amount of AP, it's fair amount of health, and the 30% slowing effect on enemy targets every time you do spell damage.
Now get Spirit Visage. This item is also an important item in building Vladimir because of the small amount of Health and Magic Resist, as well as the very useful 10% cooldown reduction, and the 15% increased healing effects on yourself. That means every time you use Transfusion, you get an additional 15% health.
Now turn the Hextech Revolver into Will of the Ancients. Followed by building Void Staff for the +40% magic penetration.

Please for the love of god do NOT underestimate the power of Will of the Ancients & Spirit Visage combined. Every cast you can get up to 400-600 health back!
Vlad is great in team fights. Hemoplague can not only do damage to an entire area, but while all of the targets in that area are effected, all damage done to them is increased by 14%.

Here is how I get most of my kills with Vladimir.
1) Hit target with Transfusion. (Q)
2) Spam with Tides of Blood. (E)
3) Hemoplague. (R)
4) Transfusion again. (Q)
5) Ignite. (D or F)
If the target isn't dead, and is ALMOST dead,
6) Sanguine Pool. (W)
7) Tides of Blood. (E) or Transfusion. (Q) Whichever is ready to use.
