Why would you get Mana when you can have AP ?

Well, because mana gives him damage and tankiness and he doesn't have the range to go glass cannon.

But you know what? You put a lot of effort into the coding of this guide and it looks nice. Mobafire is a place for sharing different types of builds and if you want to teach the world the potential of AP ryze, then more power to you. Having a new type of Ryze guide is a lot better than just having a re-hash of the current top Ryze guide imo.

He is also tankier, has more Cdr, can't be destroyed by tanks/bruisers easily and debuffs enemy champions with Frozen Heart.

First rule of dealing damage:
If you die too early, you can't deal enough damage, hence why it isn't a surprise when you find out that tanks and bruisers deal most damage in their team in the end game, especially in low elo.

Ryze's range got decreased not so long ago, which makes it even worse for him.

Dude, Mana doesn't scale harder...
Overload = 6.5% mana against 40% AP, and even tho you build tremendous amounts of Mana on Mana Ryze, AP will still get you more dmg cause 6.5% is NOTHING.
Spell Flux = 1% of mana against 35% AP, do I even need to explain ?
Rune Prison = 60% Ap against 4.5% Mana, once again, AP wins.

The only real advantage of Mana Ryze is Spamming like crazy.

Why would you get Mana when you can have AP? Because Ryze scales harder with mana than he does AP. No tear, no upvote. Also I can't think of a bigger gold sink than Rabadons on Ryze.

I know, but here I only calc with one full combo to make it simpler. I did mention that Mana ryze has the upper hand on longer fight.

The Ryze build right now has pretty much the same amount of mana, just tankier.

Saying that AP Ryze with a DFG does more damage in a single Q-W-E combo is pretty obvious but last time I checked the combo was W-Q-E-Q, spam Q about a dozen more times, not DFG-W-E-Q die because you have no tankiness whatsoever.

Muramana (+1000 Mana, +6% damage on mono-target spells), Rod of Ages (+650 Mana, +80 AP), Frozen Heart (+400 Mana), Iceborn Gauntlet (+30 AP, +500 Mana) Will of the Ancients (+80 AP), Blast (+18 AP), Expanded Mind (+180 Mana).
This gives us a total of 208 AP. Ryze has 1240 Mana at level 18 to which we add 2730 Mana from masteries and items, bringing us to a total of 3970 Mana.

Except your math is immediately incorrect because that's not the build on ryze.
