first of I decided to go for AP runes because with rod of ages being my priority item i will already have enough health that will bring your health runes to 0 effect, not to mention about the HP from rylia's. it just doesnt fit in the build
about rod of ages being my first item, yes it is slow, IF you dont get the kills you want/need. i feel that xerath can gank early and alot from lvl 6 on granting you enough kills for a fast rod of ages.. and while you are still trying to get that heap o'money. i will most likely have the survivability from my rod to sustain your deathcap damage, specially because you cant use the passive from rabadon's.
next your opinion on morello. teamfights are getting started. for xerath it is vital you have CDR. you want to get the maximum out of your W spell and your E to chase/flee. and get it over with before they can get to you. next it is also fairly cheap and it can be build faster then rylia's increasing its effect.
deathcap after rylia's? whats a deathcap gonna do when youre dead? maximize your survivability and unleash your wrath after you can stay alive versus that nasty anti-carries.
I also stated that abyssal scepter can be discussed, its not a item you need, i just feel it goes well with your passive and your only staying in W for 8 seconds, so you need to got close eventually. other magic resistance items will do aswell in my opinion.
its true that xerath doesnt get close to teamfights by nature. the enemy will want to get close to you! you will be focused if you play him well. and if you want to sustain the dmg, you need the MR and armor and HP, stay alive and continue to deal dmg,.. no one needs a dead xerath.
no hard feelings or anything but thats why i found those items to work on xerath.
First of, ap runes... really?
They only help early game, and that help is quite small. using something like hp per level runes fit him way better.
Rod of ages... is see that your trying to make him tanky, almost in the same shape as Morgana... but that wont work, this build is way to slow, so buying Rod of ages just makes it even slower.
By the time you have a rod of ages, i am going to have a deathcap = i am going to blow the sh*t out of you.
Morrellos is one of those items you buy AFTER you completed your build, again, this makes your build suuuuper slow. the stats are great, but unless Xerath ham some prober AP to back him up, his damage is going to be ****.
Rylais is awesome on Xerath.... AFTER a Deathcap. You might have a lot of hp, but you damage is going to be so low compared to ohter Xerath, that you wont be able to help your team.
Absyl is great... but! since you never have to go near combat, the aura wont help AT ALL.
I dont get the hole "must build tanky" thing you have going on here, Xerath never needs to get close in teamfight, so you wont need it, and if you get suprised a place where you cant escape, then those bonus Hp wont help much anyway.
Onto the guide itself, it plain.... WERY plain.
-Wall of text = no good
-No form of pitures/icons = No good
-Not informative in any way out of the odinary = no good.
What bohter me most is the wall of text, it makes it really hard to read.
