Counter matchup
Zaahen's counter matchups would be champions with strong early games, such as Darius, Sett, and Volibear, who can kill you at level 3, or champions like Jax, who can block your entire combo with his E (Counter Strike).
We can't forget ranged champions like Kennen and Quinn, either.
However, each of them has a way to be beaten with patience.
Darius
Darius is a matchup you never want to fight without your passive stacked. The moment you engage without it, you have every chance of dying thanks to his ultimate (R) or his passive stacking.
Sett
Sett is a champion you should only try to fight once you hit level 3, and your engagements need to be more pokes than extended trades. This is because his damage is much higher than ours, and his ability to land his E (Facebreaker) + W (Haymaker) can deal a lot more damage than we can before fully recharging our passive.
Volibear
Volibear is a champion you need to run from every time he engages with his Q (Thundering Smash). Without his Q, he won't be able to charge his first W (Frenzied Maul), which puts you on equal footing. Since Volibear has a bit more sustain, you don't want to give him the chance to heal using his W and deal all that damage. Also, dodging his E (Sky Splitter) is a very good way to beat him.
Quinn
For champions like Quinn, it's easy to counter her once you know the interaction between her E (Vault) and your W. If you time your W correctly with Quinn's E, you can prevent her from jumping away and force her to stay much closer to you, which makes it a very easy kill.
Kennen
Kennen is a very, very difficult champion. You have to play passively to try and prevent him from stacking his passive. If he has his ultimate (R) and you have yours, that's a good time to fight him, but you must time your R correctly right when he goes all-in with his ultimate. This way, you avoid his CC and massive damage, leaving him exposed in the center of your R.
Jax
Jax is a big problem. In fact, lately, I've noticed a new interaction with Jax that seems to be bugged. Previously, if you used your ultimate (R) to dodge his E (Counter Strike), it worked, but now there's a bug that sometimes makes his E stun you mid-air, which cancels the damage and your immunity. It's really weird; it's happened to me in two different games.
