For those who don't want to follow the above link and the reddit link, I'll post his story below:
EDIT: Throw the guy a couple dollars through Paypal, I'm sure it won't break your bank, as it hasn't mine.

Backstory to this: My mom is a first generation Chinese immigrant, and she basically adheres to every single asian parent stereotype out there. This morning, she got extremely pissed over a bunch of small miscellaneous things such as the dining table being messy, got into a bad mood, and took it out on me. She called me a lazy worthless son and told me to go apply for a real job, which I had already been doing for a few weeks prior. I told her that she's not making any sense and I've already applied to most places, and I don't have many expenses anyways as my first year of college starts this September.
She went bat**** insane over my response, as I was essentially talking back to her, and told me to gather my things and leave, which I did. I saw this day coming for a while, and I was especially afraid of it happening to me on my birthday, which was about a week ago. I turned 18 on the 19th of this month, and my parents have always threatened to kick me out of the house when I turn 18.
So now I'm at a friend's house on his laptop and I don't really know what to do. I could potentially have the money I won from Dreamhack - $1400 when the IRS form goes through, and I have the computer I built a few weeks ago, worth about $600. I also have my bike and $50 cash, $50 in my Paypal.
I could couchsurf from friend's house to friend's house for a little while, but in the end I would have to find a permanent place to stay.
'm attending my first year of college at University of California, Irvine, in a few months. I don't have much money or a place to stay long-term yet, but I'm looking into getting student loans to pay for tuition (I likely would have had to do this even if I stayed home).
I'm basically looking for tips on how to continue my path through college and find a cheap place to live. What should I do LoLreddit?
edit: I just got back from a long night out. To clear up some misconceptions:
My mom ripped my cellphone out of my pocket as I was leaving, so there's no chance of her calling me back.
I highly highly doubt she will take me back, but I'm still willing to try. I'm the middle child of 3, so there's no "only child syndrome" going on
The advice you guys gave here is really good. I'll be PMing many of the generous people who offered to give me a place to stay for a while soon. I've been trying to get my money and contacts together first
As a shameless plug, my paypal is peterypeng58@yahoo.com if you want to throw a few bucks into the pot.
The rest of my family/relatives live in China

The weak lose their freedom to the strong. Such is the way of the strong. And it is the providence of nature that only the strong survive. That's why I needed strength.
He just needs to make his resume look good, apply to a dam job, and look for a place he can stay.
Donations are not the answer. There are plenty of homeless people and people in poverty WAY worse off then he is.
Best thing he can do is find a roommate.
Being able to share the rent, and chores is a wonderful thing.

A bit harsh.
But you are right with people being way worse than him.

He has applied to many jobs. The problem is that when your job is playing video games, people don't exactly feel encouraged to hire you. He is in the process of getting a job but basically needs somewhere to stay until he does. He would be fine with no donations, but as one of my favorite players, I felt that I'd rather donate to him to help him however I can.
Well, his situation is hard. I dont even know what hes suffering cause I never got in trouble with my parents, I'm far from knowing anything about family problems.
I'd love to send him some money, but I just dont have it T.T
Yet, Im gonna pray so he can find a place. No one deserves a fate like that.

There's these things called "Omitting the truth" and "Lying."
Leave out the bad parts regarding yourself on your resume.
The resume, and your interview are not about how well you're suited for the job, if you applied for it, it should be something you can handle. Those two things are for showing yourself off, and making yourself stand out from the other applicants. Nothing more.
Adding little indisputable things like "volunteering after-school" and adding various simple sports as hobbies can go a long way.
