Most people max
Playful / Trickster right now for CDR and waveclear. All you have to do is catch your target in the AoE and you don't really lose burst or trade damage.
Also Lux gets wrecked by fizz pretty hard, especially after 6. She's a good bully against melees for the first few levels but unless he started with no sustain, he'll still win the lane most of the time. Lux has problems comboing against champions that can dodge skillshots, and Fizz can just E when she snares to ensure he never gets hit by a full combo.
I don't think Nidalee is a good pick. Too easy to burst if you land fish and her mobility doesn't matter. She's usually a good bully to melees early but Fizz has strong gap-closers as well as
Nimble Fighter which negates a bunch of early harass.

Thanks to Nyoike for the sig!
Guys pls liss's kit is basically made to counter fizz. She can negate his ability to get kills on her and snowball, she has much, much better waveclear and can roam like crazy and probably get kills cause targeted/easy enough to hit cc :3
Obviously, if the game is an extended laning phase liss won't end up winning cause of fizz's ult having a lower cooldown meaning that he can catch liss out when shes vulnerable. What helps liss out in every other situation is that she also rushes zhonyas which means she can block his ult and possibly playful/trickster with zhonyas and then stun him with
Frozen Tomb, potentially killing him.
EDIT: And I forgot to mention, what applies to all assassins applies to fizz too.
1. High risk, (ridiculously in fizz's case :D)high reward.
-If you feel like fizz is about to combo you, call your jungler. Fizz has to risk getting in your face to kill you, and if you can survive just a bit longer (
Barrier) you can potentially turn the situation around and kill him with the help of your jungler. Abuse this.
-In team fights, try and stay in a position where fizz would most likely die if he tried to kill you. Most of the time, you can kill fizz before you die if you position properly but even if he does kill you, forcing him to trade himself for you is still something.
2. Grows stronger based on your own mistakes.
-If you go and gank bot and then walk back in to your jungle knowing that fizz is missing it's not fizz being op or broken that made you die, it's your own lack of map awareness. Always dread carefully when playing vs assassins, deny them their ability to snowball and their status as "overpowered" slowly starts to lose its value.

That's what makes him trouble.
He dives, autohits once and Tricksters out. Leaving you not even a one second long time frame to react.
Dunno if some ppl still do it differently, but since release after Trident I max Trickster sec to profit from the CDR each level.
