create more map pressure. It's not simple enough to explain on a forum post. Are you on NA? If you are, add me on league (summoner name Keanu Reeves) and i'll see if i can teach you
If I helped you out, be sure to throw me a +Rep!

Champions that can omit lots of map pressure and create plays whilst being able to synergize and follow up with teammates are most effective at carrying. Champions like
Evelynn and
Xin Zhao have seen more play recently since their ability to one shot a champion and then damage everyone and start a fight is incredible, in addition to their strong mid game dueling and global map pressure they can create with splitpushing or by denying vision. Every jungler should try and add/deny as much vision as possible since in solo queue many people (myself included) tend to go alone into lanes later on in the game. Coordinate with a team member to hide in a brush and wait for an enemy to go for farm and burst them down and take objectives from there. Doing this over and over again in succession will help you win games.
Sometimes, it's not about being the carry for the team. A good player will know how to carry the team, but a better player will know what win conditions need to be met in order for them to be carried and fulfil them to the best of their ability.

Try to focus on how you can get objectives (dragoN/baron and towers). A common mistake at less experienced level of play is going for kills more than for objectives, or even securing a kill that could enable you to push a tower but you recall immediately instead.

Is this thread about how to carry in URF mode?

@utopus Yeah, I'm on NA. My summoner's is EvolvedPik but I usually only play on the weekends.
Recently I've been trying out Mobility Boots and I've really enjoyed the results, so I'm definitely starting to create map pressure in my games.
About the whole objectives > kills thing, I just discovered the timers above the leaderboard (I never used timers in the first place, probably should have :P), so I'll work on that.
I also take Trailblazer-Devourer so I can rack up lots of stacks really fast.
Thanks!

@OP:
What you should try to do, is understand how the game works. Ask yourself the question, what makes you win games? When you're coming off of level thirty you often don't have a good picture of how the game works. Your goal is to make that picture clear. Understand what to do, what to aim for, how to achieve these goals, and how to use these goals to win games, but also keep an open mind, because your preconceptions towards the game may very well change due to how things change as you climb.
For example, level thirties probably understand fundamental lane mechanics. Last-hitting, not dying, killing the enemies. Try to then understand why these phenomenons occur. Why do you stay in lane? Why do junglers exist?
After you understand what you are currently doing as a level thirty, you then want to expand on that on a wider scale. How do your lane mechanics transition into creating an advantage and then consequently winning objectives? What happens if you don't win lane?
As you get better you want to make a mental checklist of each of these aspects of the game. When you encounter an unfamiliar aspect you'll want to answer that. Take small steps because League is a very confusing game to get used to.
The most important parts of understanding League is knowing what wins you games.
You can start by looking at the things valued in League:
Gold (CS, kills, towers), denied gold, objectives (towers, dragons, buffs, inhibs, barons), vision, vision control, map movement
once you understand these, try to apply them to your own gameplay. Do note that understanding the game does NOT mean executing all of these properly, especially if you're the type of person who tends to look at other people. Your mentality should be only focused on yourself and what you can do to improve your gameplay to control the aspects valued in league.
Once you start understanding what to do, all you need to focus on is the execution of your mental plan, which will help you not throw games.
