Much like how there is a guide for the Runes

I was thinking of writing up a gameplay guide for the majority of players in the Mid Elo to Lower High Elo brackets that cannot seem to get better, or for players who are repeat offenders of googling a build for a hero and sticking to it and condemning the hero due to their own bad habits in gameplay.

I come from a long history of playing Dota as an above average player. Ive played it when starcraft first had it as Aeon of Strife and continued to play it through the height of warcraft 3 and now League of Legends.
And I was curious if this is a good idea or if it is something people would like to see and support?

I want to include a guide to how to make proper decisions in game and gauging the situation. Along with ward tips and brush play. How to farm, when to farm, and when to push and basically all those things that apply to all heroes. How to think ahead and how to bring a team together to a consistent win.

I feel majority of the players who are competitive in the sense that they want to be good and want to win but have learned either bad habits or do dumb things that keep them back and everyone else they play with back. This could help mitigate some of the issues that ELO Hell brings to players and could be the initiate steps at eliminating it.

Special thanks to HyperPred and Scrax for info and ideas on this early outline.

The Great Compendium of Game-Play

The Goal of this Guide:
This guide was intended to mitigate the problems that perpetuate an "ELO Hell". Most people have a predisposition to believe writing over someone in game yelling at them about how to play the game and the things they did wrong. Most players also want to get better but many do not know what they are doing wrong, or are stuck in a mindset that leads them to make bad choices. The reason why the best players can take any hero and play them super well and even make them the flavor of the month is because of their understanding of the game. If you copy their build and expect the same results, chances are it will not happen. Read this guide with an open mind and logical philosophy. Above all else try to have fun and understand that it is a game and to get better at it requires you to control your emotions.

So I assume its an okay idea then?

I'll try to come up with an outline of sorts and ask you guys if there is anything that really needs to be added or taken away from it.

theres many guides for tips and how to improve. ultimately it depends on the individual to learn through experience. theres only so much u can teach by writing.

I can agree to that, but I cant help but think because of that Rune Guide on the front page more people are more accessible to it and want to read it.

Most people stuck in ELO hell dont even realize they are perpetuating it, nor do they see the reason to look at a guide. I suppose it would almost be like preaching to the choir but maybe?

if they stuck in elo hell because they are too dumb to improve, or dont want to improve for the sake of playing casually, let them be.

if they want to improve real bad, they would find tons of guides to help them. there are alot of LoL forums, takes like 10 second to google.

Yeah, for those who want to improve they will find a way to do so. Although my brother says the best way to get better is get your *** kicked (at least in Halo and WoW).

I'm sure it would be a good idea to put one up on here and of course include the names of the members of this site that aided in your information on the subject.

I think this is a great idea. "The Great Compendium of Game-Play", "To brush, or not to brush; that is only one of the questions", hmm..

I'd love it.

The objective isnt to get people out of ELO Hell, its to remove ELO hell or tackle its problems directly. I have a sneaky suspicion that a lot of causal players or people stuck in ELO hell do want to do better but it never occurs to them to read a guide. The players who actually perpetuate the problems in ELO Hell need something put in their face so maybe they will stop doing dumb things and understand this game better.

Of course Credit will go to everyone that Aids me in this regard. I never believed I would be able to write this alone.

Thanks for your support guys. I am creating an outline.

I also love that title Scrax, Mind if I use it? I intended to link the relevant forum topics and mention the contributors of course ^^
