Yes, it's fun and viable as a Mid laner. It has its shortcomings, as she lacks escapes (much like her AD counterpart). But even so, with 
Impure Shots, lots of AP and a Nashor's Tooth she's quite fun.
With 400 AP, lv5 Impure Shots, spellblade mastery and Nashor's Tooth your AA will have an extra 127 magic damage (if you hit 5 consecutive shots on the same target, last hit is 255 dmg), Lich Bane procs for 350 damage and your E goes up to 630 damage and the slow from it will proc Liandry's Torment. Just an example, my build usually goes to around ~490 AP.
